I would say Apple = VW and Android = Skoda tbh :hi:

Well......still the same,......... they both belong to VAG

The first time was a "facepalm"......this time is:

A friend had 4 Transformer Primes before giving up and getting a refund. On the other hand my parents are on their third iPad 2. :giggle:

Playbook 32 GB is OK to do lite browsing, modification of Office Compatible documents and pick-up e-mail on the move. Can be picked-up for £200-doubtful whether Blackberry will be doing a Mk 2 ?

I got one on the pretext that it would replace a failing laptop. Not really capable enough to do that.

Need to consider at least a notebook to do that.

However, if you're a BT customer, like me, FON service offers the possibility of charge free web roaming through wi-fi.

Lightweight and small enough to carry in a document wallet, camel back, deep pocket and not be noticed

Plenty of storage space for pictures and videos, GPS, camera back and front, bluetooth link to printers (Including the micro thermal Pogo), wi-fi links to portable network hubs and disk storage at cbeap prices. Also bluetooth keyboard.

.

Runs Android apps and can be rooted to support Android or Windows OS - once the warranty is lapsed ?

Could really do with a 4- core processor, as opposed to the 2-Core, most noticeable when doing post edits on this site.

Nick.

My friend had a play book. They are pants. Blackberry are a failing company and not only does their tablet suck so do their "smartphones" nothing smart about blackberry. Especially the teenage chavs on the BBM hype. If blackberry were gone tomorrow I doubt anyone would care. Sorry for the rant. Hate RIM

Have to challenge that.

I not too concerned who else uses it, only what I will be doing with it and whether it meets my needs

Perhaps it hasn't got the cachee of the others, but it meets my needs, was less than half the price and doesn't require prior weight-training sessions for long-term use.Its got capacitive screen, 2 core processor and solid case and internals - many at this price haven't.

As far as I can see there's nothing wrong with the ONX OS apart from the deliberate restrictions it places on you by denying sight of the system structure (I imagine all the others do that as well ?) - but the system has been already been rooted by the IT community so that full blown android or Windows 8 can be run on it exclusively. That's what will happen to mine when the warranty runs out.

The camera is great

I've got mine set-up using bluetooth to use a portable colour thermal printer and with possibility to access portable external storage by the same method. Power consumption wise, if you turn the bluetooth and wif-fi off in standby it will last for days on the internal battery (Do the others do this ? ) and I've got the option of running it from a portable L-ion cassette. The whole lot, tablet and accessories fits iinto a "case logic" portable harddrive bag hijacked for the purpose measuring 9 inches square and weighing no more than 2..5Lbs.

Hasn't got a dediicated Kindle app at the moment, but you can convert the files. And if you go on to root it and substiute one of the Androids OS then you can use that version of the Kindle app.

Approved Android apps can already be directly downloaded into the OS 2 system. other Android apps can be side-loaded to the system or, as said above you can go for a full replacement of the OS.

All the on-board Office "To Go" applications work with my Office 2010 files and th E-mail sychronises with my E-mail account.

IMHO Easier to commute with that than a friiging great 10" android or IPOD.

No matter. If you look at raw specs the iPad wins.

Hmmm, I'm interested in this, do you have any links explaining this process? I bought the cheap 16GB one and barely use it, mainly because some things I want to do simply aren't supported (I was thinking I could use the Android Skype app, for example, but it wasn't easy to get installed and didn't work anyway). It's currently up for sale on here with no interest, if I can't sell it for a reasonable price on eBay then I would certainly consider voiding the warranty to make it more useful.

The 16gig one is now 170 new in PC world, might get more interest with a large price drop, or punt it on ebay.

Will still be flakey even if you do root it and get Android on it though. (possibly)

Hmm, I hadn't realised they'd dropped the price, I'm sure mine was £180 with the pointless accessories and I've since bought the screen protector and extra case. Guess I'll go and update my thread then :) would rather not risk eBay, I really dislike it as a casual seller, there's too many opportunities to get messed about by time-wasting idiots and no guarantee of what you'll get (plus paying two lots of fees annoys me a bit...)

The annoying thing is, it's not flaky now, it's pretty solid both in hardware and software terms. It feels like a high-quality device in your hands and it's never frozen, crashed, etc on me, unlike my Android phone (which at least twice this morning has had the Facebook app simply stop responding for no reason). Just that without things like Skype, a decent XBMC remote, maybe things like WhatsApp (all of which are available on Android) I'm really struggling to find things to use it for.
