airconditioned glovebox - vRS

Featured Replies

My wifes 57 plate Fabia 2 has an air-conditioned glove box, but my 12 plate vRS does not.

The May 2010 vRS brochure makes no mention of an air-conditioned glove box in the list of standard equipment.

my 2008 12 sport has it, but my ex vrs 60 plate didn't

i have the brochure dated 4th jan 2011 and i cant find any mention of it either and my 61 plate car doesnt have it, cant say i'll miss it coz i NEVER used it in 7.5 years on my mk1

The A/C will never be going on in mine at the cost of around 5mpg.

i can live with a UK temp of around 24 degrees celcius.

In fact it costs more in mpg to open the window. Certainly no where near 5mpg to run the ac in UK temps.

The ac glovebox feature is useless though IMO.

Indeed it is not a great feature but it does help a bit a bottle of water to stay chilled more than if it was in the cabin. When summer hits here and climbs to 30 and 35C every little helps. (damn that sounded like a Tesco advert :)

Mine has it and i have a green roof and climate.

i assumed the reference was to a black interior headlining.

(which i have)

My car has a red roof on the exterior.

Fabia vRS mk2, built in Februari 2011. Got the cooled glovebox ;).

You might well be right but I thought they all had black headlining.

Stug, so did i think they all were black headlinings,

whch is why i could not understand the point of the original 'black roof' comment.

What has a roof colour, be it on the interior or exterior got to do with having a 'cooled glove box' or not?

Oh dear, it was supposed to be a Joke,

I'll order a taxi and get my coat

Got the air-con glovebox, vrs estate with climatronic.

I was wondering, as its just a open/close vent, similar set-up to the interior vents, will it also warm the glovebox if ive got the heating on?

Could keep the Greggs Sausage rolls warm!

Sure it will warm if you got the heating on

My 60 plate, picked up new Feb 2011 has climatronic and the air con glove box. Although the dial is effectively just covering a hole that lets some air in from the AC unit.

It keeps my cool drink cool! I wonder if you just have a cut out panel, with a cooling hole behind. If so, you may just need the dial. On the other hand, you may have to have the dial, and some other panel/pipework that goes onto one of the aircon pipes!

A damaged car might be worth a closer look. Remove the vent dial and look behind it. If its just cold pipes running on by, may be worth getting the dial and fitting it to your model. I wouldnt cut the whole though, til I knew for sure!!! :wonder:

BTW, Yes, it'll get warm too, in that condition, I close the vent!

That said, I recon it will be just a vent dial, very worth having! I think the other knock out (Smaller circular jobbie) Is for an additional plug-in device, like a sat nav plug (Fag lighter socket) Or perhaps the plughole for the Ipod adapter that could have been ordered, to control the Ipod via the stereo controls, rather then the aux socket. (This too, would need a power source, so it may again be a power socket hole)

Yep we have an A/C glovebox dial ,on a climate control 61 plate VRS Fabia :)

Would considerably speed up demisting the screen on all these Wet days we're having

Sleet and hailstones right now and the windscreen de-mists just fine without A/C.
