Columbus 1Z0 - which firmware upgrade?

Featured Replies

I've read all the various forum threads I can find and have decided to gamble and upgrade my Columbus firmware in my Jun 2008 registered Octavia to give me 7 digit postcode searching.

I have an A revision Columbus unit (1Z0), hardware HW04, running firmware 1004 at present. The question is am I best off with modified 2764 or 3814?? I have burned discs for both, along with the fix disks for mfd/mfsw issues. I also have a genuine V7 map disc (7333 on the hidden menu) so can reinstall if necessary and there's no other stuff on HDD at present to worry about either. I can also live with Regensburg syndrome if it occurs for less than a minute on start up. I'm not sure about the CAN gateway but from what I've read I should be ok for the battery drain issues.

So which should I go for for best chance of success?? Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Adam

Well I've gambled on 3814 and all was ok apart from mfsw not working. However the fix on this thread, which is also where the firmware comes from worked a treat.

I can't hear anything a short while after I turn off the unit so I'm pretty hopeful that there's no battery drain.

It all works nicely and I have 7 digit postcode searching, which was the aim so I'm well chuffed. Thanks to josi for all the effort put into the quality software and fixes and to everyone else for the info I've read in various threads.

Cheers
