New vrs estate arrived

Featured Replies

And is yours like johno,s Nicky???

I have really un fairly judged a good car over a small distance and over a motorway drive!!!

I had a shark performance (site sponsor) STS box which is basically the same as Jonnos. Most people on here have a shark or revo map it would seem. Great bit of kit but can effect warrant yes, depends on what has failed really.

Ha ha god you guys cheer me up!!!

I agree johno it needs running in, and maybe the answer is a re map,,, or a good sleep on it and a lovely wax and polish tomorrow and I will feel different!!!

One positive was I did manage to get a white skoda coat!!!! And vrs cuff links!!!!

Revo and Shark are both remaps but not the same in my experience. My mate tried a shark remap on his vRS (we got our cars at the same time) but it wasn't as quick and seemed to hesitate sometimes so he got his money back and got Revo instead.

I will research this more Johno

How much does it cost?

White coat? Handy if you're called upon to do a spot of umpiring at the cricket I suppose?

About £500 maybe a little more. Revo are one of the most expensive.

Bear in mind Jonno works for revo

Although to be fair my shark map hesitated at 3k rpm.

I wish I did lol, most others on here appear to work for Shark. Revo just have a quality product and the stage 1 for the tsi is awesome.

Ha ha happier with a white coat than the bloody car!

Jonno does that apply to the 1.8 tsi aswell?

I know I think Ive made the same comment to Jonno before.

So is yours not a vrs johno??

If it is a good car, and if I am honest why would so many people say otherwise!!!!

I will keep it and get it re mapped,,, I remember getting my 172 chipped, and when I sold it the renault feller said,,, god thats quick, I said it was the petrol,, grabbed my 182 keys and ran out!!!

Yep it's a vRS. My third actually. Wouldn't of thought you would of got much gain from a n/a 2.0 engine remap?

No experience with the 1.8 tsi so couldn't comment. Revo quote 210bhp and 240lbs but I would take that with a pinch of salt as Revo always claim more than their maps actually make. Stage 1 on tsi is quoted as 275 but in reality it's more like 255bhp.

Can't believe you didn't try one first! You could have come to one of the NW meets in your 250 and tried a few for size :)

Hope it gets better for you

Get some pics up too

Always test drive ;)

The biggest let down I've had was a test drive in an Audi Quattro Sport (the proper swb UR jobby) - nearly bought it as I just wanted one....the looks the pedigree etc... Drove it and it was like a tractor in comparison to the integrale I had at the time.... Sometimes best not to meet your heros :(

Coming from the rs250 a standard vrs tsi is going to feel slow. I looked at the rs but concluded it was way too small for my needs.

Get a few miles under its belt (to loosen it up and iron out any big potential warranty issues) then get it remapped. It will get you enough zing back to get you liking it. 250bhp and 300lb/ft are attainable on the tsi with relative ease. Revo or shark have a good reputation on here.

The other thing is how it feels opposed to how fast your actually traveling - the vrs hides speed very well, if you know what I mean? Handling wise it's never going to be as chuckable as a Clio (the only Clio I've driven was fully caged and had a sequential box...) but its fun trying to keep up with something like that on a twisty road.

Suggest tweeking the xds settings as a cheap starter to get turn in at low speeds tightened up - and try it with traction turned off - feels much better.

I'm sure you'll get to like it with more miles in it

I would seriously recommend stage 1 and an updated rear anti-roll bar as early mods to do. Will transform the car and when your bored, go stage 2!

Thanks for your comments I have really taken them on board

Yes I should have test drove, but as I said, it's the best car for my needs and also would fit all my family and extra inside!!!!

It's just a change in driving, I never did more than 60 in my rs so why I am bothered about speed is beyond me!!!!!

I am looking forward to using it for what it was bought for, family occasions

I am just so security minded, I have put a disc lock on and got the brother in law coming today to sort out a drop pole in the drive
