Steamy windows no more

Featured Replies

Had a problem that every time it rained my car windows steamed up. After looking on here I decided to change pollen filter from the cheap thing that was in to a better one think it was a carbon type n problem sorted. Thanks brikoda

I got this to do on mine, what was the cost of the filter if you dont mind me asking

filters are about £8.. takes about a minute to change.

The one I got was £15

And there was me thinking you had just given up dogging!

A new filter should be less than a tenner. I have had both the carbon and normal versions and I wouldn't say there is any difference.

Sure bloke at garage mentioned something about carbon to do with filter

Tina Turner ain't singing no more.

i tried cleaning under the plastic where the pollen filter is, couldn`t get the plastic off, didn`t want to pull it too hard

I'm not too good with mechanics so took it to a garage

I'll be doing this soon, haynes manual suggests to remove the passenger wiper arm in order to remove the plastic cowling for better access - which i would imagine will help with cleaning things out?

Out of interest is there any difference between the "With Aircon" and "Without Aircon" Pollen Filters, other than the £4 price difference :o

Cheers

There are two options available to you. The standard pollen filter, and an activated carbon pollen filter. You'll generally get given the standard filter automatically, so specify which one you want.

The activated carbon version blocks smells and toxic gases.

No need to remove any wiper arms, just pull off the bonnet seal and start to pop off the scuttle cover from the centre of the windscreen. Tug it as close as possible to the channel that it locks into. Only use your hands and try and do it on a hotter day so the plastic is more compliant.

Sorry for copyin the above dont know how I did it. Activated carbon is what I got

Just as an aside, I got a bottle of Rainex anti fog and coated all me window interiors with it about 2 months ago. Fog free 24 hrs a day.

And i do a fair amount of night work, hopping into the car at 4/5 in the morning, swish the wipers once for the outside and drive away. lovely :-)

No need to remove wiper mate. You can remove that side of the scuttle with them still attached.
