the M25... ;)

That's funny. All the times I've driven the M25 I've easily been able to reach 85 mph and more.

You just think your motorways are congested! :D

Mattijs, the sliproads to and from the M25 do not count :p

So which parts of the M25 have this reputation then?

I remember having comprehensively raced the M25 from the M26 junction to the M23 junction - and back - on working days several times, not in rush hour, though, but traffic was infinitely lighter than on the same hours on motorways in the West of Holland.

Mattijs - those junctions are very quiet relative to many others, particularly outside rush hour. Try going on the M25 at any time anywhere from the A3 turn off upwards (when going clockwise) or anywhere near the A1 / M1 turn offs  Having said that, the M23 itself can be a real nightmare particularly during rush hour.

BTW - I assume you got onto the M25 via the M20 and M26 - if you did you got a very distorted view of British motorways as they are about the best / quietest motorways in Britain :D

Never been to the part you suggested, Stu, so that might explain a fair bit.

Yes, my only experience of British motorways for quite some time now is limited to the blast up from the tunnel to Gatwick and Horsham - and then some fun A roads down to Chichester and Bognor Regis. (You guessed it, the annual Goodwood trip...)

Ah, Chichester and Bognor Regis...which fun A roads are they then?!

Rob.

[grabs OS map of South East England]

Erm, that would be the A29 from Pulborough down to Fontwell then.

Ah yes, and on the tourist route along the coast I remember the A259 between Rye and Hastings was a lot of fun too.

[thinks he should make arrangements for a trip to the Midlands and Donington Park - and its Collection - sometime in the future]

Dutch

You wont be dissapointed , the Donnington Collection is great!
