Severe Autobahn Crash Destroys New M5

Featured Replies

ouch!!

Wow, so glad everyone survived. Goes to show how good the build quality is.

M5, M6 and M3 in the same family.....................where did I go wrong?

Three M series BMWs, the M5 going flat out! Honest they weren't racing. Good news that all survived with no serious injury but that is more luck than judgement. The story seems to put all blame on this other car which joined the road, how is anyone to expect a car to be travelling at over 180 mph or probably even see it coming!

Exactly.

But then it's a post about an M5 going flat out and having a crash... on a BMW forum. So it's bound to be the other car's fault. :dull:

Ironic if it was a BMW trying to pull out too

If in fact the other car actually ever existed!

Indeed

Such faith we have have in BMW drivers to tell the truth..... Just like every teenage boy who crashes at night was "swerving to avoid a deer" :bandit:

Does it say anything about the other forum user on the first page all asking if it was an "M" meet as there a M3 and M6 on the scene of the crash, as opposed to reading it was family members cars!!

Wish them a "speedy" recovery.

It has been reported on variuos motoring forums over the past two days and all have basically the same wording which was probably copied from some news source. All indicate it was a family outing, no mention of meet or race, just blaming it on another driver joining erratically!

Just think what the press and various motoring safety organisations would do with this story if it had happened in the UK! Especially if it had happened on the M4, what would the Sun have headlined it as?

I love the fact that no one is blaming the driver, his family, who were obviously following at a safe distance, just the other driver. Most of the hype is about how this shows BMW is fantastic build quality, especially the le hand headlight!

Crazy! 186mph crash and survived? How on earth can you react to anything at that speed? Daft in the head.

Do we just have the driver say, 'i was flat out' and we then believe it was at 186 mph/300kph,

or

is there a Tachograph or Black box telling us that was the speed?

(quite possibly it will be GPS in the sat nav or mobile i suppose.)
