Fitting Heated Seats

Featured Replies

So as some will know i have just got a Fabia vRS SE it does not have heated seats going from my elegance with heated seats to this and getting up at 6 every morning to go to work its something i really miss! i found this on ebay and am wondering if anyone has ever fitted this?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180849531950?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_585wt_1110

seams reasonable simple i got them to send me over the fitting instructions its about to be cut to the correct size only thing i need to find out is if its able to have little holes cut in it to allow for the seat cover to be fitted correctly

they also do a kit which is just a switch with 2 heat options

so just wondering what you guys think? is it worth doing if they can be fitted correctly?

Ooooo! you can put the switches in the doors next to your electric window switch so you dont really damage any trim!

and for £60 you can do the rear seats too!

I will watch this closely I've wanted heated seats in my vRS with leather's since I bought it lol

ive sent off a message to the seller ill let you know the reply! maybe if i get them and they are a good quality we can organise a group buy! :)

I reckon you could wire them up to some oem switches with a bit of know how!

The advert has the heater element size, I've not got my car at the moment in time to go and measure the sizes but the element is 480x280±5mm (18.9 * 11 inch)

I've fitted a heater pad set in my old car. You generally have tie downs within the seat horizontally and vertically, as long as you are systematic in getting access tou should be fine. I usually use cable ties when reassembling rather than messing around with the metal hog rings.

You shouldn't need to go that high on the backrest and the bases aren't usually too bad. Easier to do if the seat hasn't got airbags fitted.

yeah i noticed i had drawn round the top bit when i wasnt ment to the standard ones only went up to that point when i swapped them into my old vrs seats

and yes i would be using cable ties aswell its what we use all the time at work its easier and the seats always looks better because you can get them tighter

i may just have to give that a go... ill steal a switch out my old car to try it hope it works!..

Taking the covers off is fine! I just warn you to be patient and take your time lifting the covers off. There is a how to on the forum somewhere :-) good luck!

i swap covers over all the time at work they aint to bad to do and once you get some practice in i can do them in a reasonable time now haven't done a mk2 superb yet though and i dont fancy it either! haha and i was thinking maybe put the switch in the bottom of the seat plastics and then mattievrs suggested trying the original switch so im gonna give that a go :)

That sounds good! I'd like to wire up my rear seats! I'm lucky enough to have them in my mk2! But their simple 1&2&off style switches :-)

Good luck! Ahh you make it sound easy! It took 3 of us to take off and put on seat covers on a fabia vrs seat last weekend lol!

haha my first seat i took apart was my old elegance seats took me a long time! second ones was my vrs seats didnt take me that long but i went and scratched one of my window tints getting it out like a retard.. haha mk2 fabia seats are the easiest :)

I fitted heated seats to my SE, I was going to write a guide on how to do it but didn't get time! :(

I've got a couple of leftover kits, at a reasonable price if you want to make 100% sure it will fit!

Interested in a couple of kits mate but your pm folder is full!

Me too! I'm interested if it can be wired to OEM switches.

Although my interest my gradually decay as the warmer days kick in! :p

i would have been interested but looks like these guys have got in before me :wall: haha

Cleared my inbox now, I have 1 set of OEM switches (I never got round to figuring out how to wire them up). So just used a OEM looking digital round button instead!

Why dont you just buy warmer clothes? that would be cheaper all round.

typical comment.

Where would you power these from? Can't imagine any existing circuits having the correct ratings with out upping the fuse, and then I'd worry about other things going pop... How easy would it be to take a new circuit through the fuse box?

I guess you could take a new feed from the battery with an in line fuse somewhere though, if you needed to.

I don't think you'll get those switches in the door as Leon suggests, even when it's only the front windows the switch box in there takes up all the room like the 4 window one does... I've never understood why, I guess it means they can use the same screw mounts for both setups, so only one design of trim... pain though, would have been a brilliant place other wise.

Most 3rd party kits recommend switches go on the seat base, don't they... there is a chance you can hook up the OEM switches, all comes down to how they operate, if they're a simple on off type thing or something more complicated that spoke to the convenience unit rather than a straight forward circuit.. must be multi meter time... The 3rd part switches might be 1 on for 1 and 2 on for 2... or 1 on for 1 and 1 + 2 on for 2.. You have a multi meter, yeah? lol... I think you'll need it.
