  • For me is the door windows - mirrors on both sides cause when it rains you are unable to have a rear view from them, plus the central mirror that occupies a lot of driver's view area.

  • I dont like the door handles on the inside.

  • I quite like the shape, everything these days seems to have curves etc, I like the boxy look

I wonder if Skoda read this stuff to include in next Fabia? Seem to be replacing many models but no news on next Fabia yet.

Having to clean such a big car. Didn't used to mind but my brothers Swift didn't take long at all.

12v should be nearer the front since most use them for satnavs now.

Bigger paddles would be nice but not that bad, Driven worse since

I eggs you on to go fast too much - This more my problem than the cars :giggle:

I know it would never happen but I would have liked the brake pedal over to the left more and to be able to brake with your left foot without it cutting out.

lack of lumbar support for longer journeys

cheap plastics compared to the mark 1 fabia

no oil temperature light or even a 'hot/cold' light

common electric window fault

too high standard ride height

cover for fuses is upside down (because they've taken it from the polo and not bothered to make one with the symbols the right way round, just need to remember to read the symbols upside down, it's called cost cutting)

fake grills on the lower front bumper

cheap seat fillings (looks like cheap sponge)

door handle could be closer to door opener (if you park the car sideways on a slope, you risk hitting anything next to the car if you open and don't grab the door handle quickly enough to stop the door hitting e.g a car parked next to you)

why is the steering wheel so enormous for a small car.

Mine has an oil temp reading...

agreed

Only real flaw to me is that the DSG knob isn't like the Polo GTi one

No interior light in the back.

Sharp corner of center console below the stereo digs in to my knee.

I thought it was just me.

Everyone's missed the obvious.

The shape. Too tall overall, even lowered.

And post 23 :)

I've put some RainX on my windscreen and side windows, lets see if that helps the water run-off issue.

it doesn't cos i've tried it.

mine doesn't, but yours cost twice as much as mine.

It's not a design flaw, it's a design feature. If it wasn't meant to look like that they would have designed it to a different shape. They spend a lof of money on designers.

Having a tall body does help when loading certain things into the car. Anyone who's tried lifting a baby carrier into the back of a low-roofed car will know what I mean :) This obviously suits the target market, since they are selling well.

Since it's relatively narrow, the tall body can make it look slightly out of proportion. The facelift tried to make the front end look wider by using more horizontal lines, which only works to a certain point.

they should make the fabia III wider.

Most of the time it's the CEO's that water the original concepts down, designers rarely get their way and have to simplify ideas for the engineers.... then theres safety, space, etc... there's always room for improvement and it's a continuos cycle! :)

as for flaws, I think it's missing a quality factor that the mk1 had. but theres always the next one! :)

It's a design flaw in my eyes.

I am 6 foot tall and with the seat set at the normal height, I could wear a Top hat. It's virtually the same in the back.

Now if you're telling me they designed the Fabia II to suit 6' 5" occupants front & rear, you're mistaken. It's too high.

You say they spend a lot of money on designers ? Well, they've wasted a lot of cash then.

You could still easily achieve everything the normal person needs from a hatch with 3" lopped off the roof height.

Makes the Estate/Combi look quite sleek ( by comparison ) though.

i'm 5 foot 10 and I can wear 2 top hats! maybe the fabia's designed for old people who like to wear big hats in mind. people like the queen.

yeah the roof is very high but at least there's a lot of head room and feels spacious. when i get into other cars i find the headroom is so cramped. bmw 3 series L reg, focus y reg, new shape clio all very cramped and my head is a couple of inches from the sun visor. In the fabia, it's a foot away. there's not many small cars as spacious as the fabia apart from the citreon c3 picasso.

another thing a bit of a pain is the side impact bars in the front doors, they are in the way as they're directly behind the speakers meaning you can't fit deeper speakers

why is there a small gap between the cover for the third high level brake light and the rear screen? I can't take the cover off to clean the screen. I had a trapped fly in there but i can't see it anymore.

No, the designer thought of that. The Queen & old people thought the speakers to be perfectly adequate for Classic FM.

As I look through this thread, I see many extras requested. Don't forget that this car is sold at a competitive price. To add extras we would be getting into VW prices.

I do like the built in barometer; lots of rattles when the sun comes out, slowly diminishing when the rain comes.

But it is the operational simplicity of the car that makes it so easy to live with, so I can't identify a design fault.
