Jeeps, if I leave it a couple of days they'll be giving them away :)

Is that Maplin drive USB2 or USB3 ?

Much difference in speed ?

Was probably the USB 2.0 version, but they are now out of stock (and it's a 48 hour sale item) online but available in stores.

Yes, USB 3.0 is noticeably quicker the 2.0 if you have a USB 3.0 socket on your computer.

My new Tosh L770-14C has a blue USB port whick I presume is a USB3.

I'll save up for a USB3 drive then.

Thats an understatement, I was copying to externals at 30MBps (max), now it's 250MBps

So yes, a huge difference

Excellent, that SATA/USB3 caddy is just what I need, having a spare HDD sitting around !

Would it be backwards compatible with USB2 ? Oops, literature says yes.

My NAS is feeling the need of a disk upgrade to.... I am thinking 4 x 2TB should do the trick for a few months :-)

"Lots" isn't an adequate description really. Mind you, with 2TB you really would be into lots of DVD quality movies, so you'd have a fair choice of naughtiness ;)

.....well from there I wasn't expecting that price :o

They can subsidise their online prices by ripping people off in-store (check the small print, if you don't reserve online and just walk into the store, that drive costs you £110 so about £20-25 "over the odds"...)
