Umbrella. Which door in Europe?

Featured Replies

In the UK, the umbrella is in the left rear door. So is it in the same place in left hand drive cars, or does it move to the right hand rear door? Obviously this question is aimed at our friends who have LHD cars!

I'm sure there must be a good reason you want to know...

The OP wants to replace the door liner and so get two umbrellas! :giggle:

TBH I looked at replacing the trim panel in the rear of my estate and purchasing another torch - that was until I found out the cost of said replacment torch

It makes sence to be behind the driver but in the UK that means its on the wrong side :(

It was a discussion in our office, because we started talking about the umbrellas in Superbs. And we wondered if it changed sides like the steering wheel does.

It appears not. Shame they don't as is the case in many things that do not change when the steering does.

Oh, and thanks for the replies, forgot to say earlier!

My combi is right hand drive.. umbrella slot is at rear left door..

How much is the replacement torch? curious

So in a country that probably has the most rainfall they position the brolly so the driver has to walk all the way around the caar in the rain to get it?! Nice.

I feel left out now, as the yeti has no brolly at all :(

Presumably so that the driver gets out and walks round, opens the rear door for the passenger to get out onto the pavement?

From memory it was just under £50 18 months ago.

I gave up the idea when I found this - http://www.passat3b....ic.php?p=652732

3T0 947 417 4K1 - Flashlight ivory (beige)

3T0 947 417 9B9 - Flashlight satin black

€39,87 each

3T0 947 509 4K1 - Holder ivory (beige)

3T0 947 509 9B9 - Holder satin black

OK that was in 2009, so if anyone can get a current price...

Dont feel left out- S spec superb only has a blanking place in the LH rear door where higher specs have brolly.

However I did solve the problem by spending £2.50 at a well known supermarket begining with "S" and rhyming with blueberry... fits a treat in drivers door pocket so I dont need to get wet walking round car to get it.

Got a 2011 Estate.

Living in Norway, so the driver seat is on the left hand side (seeing the car from behind).

Umbrella is on the same side as the driver.

The umbrella is on the LHS for all models, so behind the driver for LHD and the passenger side for RHD.
