Best thing is to phone your local dealer and get put through to service dept. they will check your reg to see if been done or not.

As above, if they try to fob you off quote Ignition Coil Campaign No: 28 F7

Exactly as I quoted when I phoned the garage, it was done without any arguement and FREE!!!.

The garage had never seen my car before !!!. If you have a couple of days spare read this post,

its how it all began (be warned its 15+ pages long) lol.

What year does the recall apply to

all mk1 1.8T cars, and some mk2s (but i suspect you have a mk1 if you're on this forum!)

Got mine back on friday from recall i used clock garage in derby when cylinder 4 pack just kinda wanted to stop working all togeather lol they where great never seen my car before but welcomed it in no fuss changed all 4 FREE of course and only had it 2 days..... Winner thanks clock garage

Guys, what are the symtoms when the coil pack are damage? I have a Octavia 2002 1.8T AGU Engine. My car only have 58,000Kms.

Yesterday when the car is on idle the engine beguin to fail an vibrate like it want to die. Sometimes the problem goes away and the engine work ok. This only happen on idle.

Can this be a Coil Pack problem? There is no Malfuntion Indicator Light coming on the intrument cluster. I also dont have any computer to check is there are code on the car computer.

THX,

Isaac

Quick update on this as said further up iv had my car recalled and have seen noticable increases on fuel consumption since having it back.. Before i got low 30s normal town driving and high 30s early 40s on a very good run. but now normal nipping around am getting easy mid 30s and on a good run hitting easy early to mid 40mpg its great lol i was down the m42/m6 earlier and hit 46 normal cruising lol :) mega thumbs up.. Saves me more fuel for when i occasionally give it some hassle lol oh yea and its mapped by r-tech and has a pipercross panel filter too :)

Old thread revival. Was there a time limit on getting this done? My eldest son is about to purchase a 2001 VRS (well the 'bank of dad' is paying for it and then he'll pay me back as and when, without having the interest charges)  and wonder if it's worth a call to Heritage Skoda in Yeovil to see if the car is on the data base as being done or not. Was it just a case of them putting in some new updated coil that wasn't supposed to fail anymore? If so anyone got the pt number for them in case Heritage say take a run and jump, then we can get the updated coils and fit them ourselves.

Thanks.

Imo it's still an active campaign. They will renew all coils except those with part number ending in D R L or M. I know my car has the campaign open and had to find "wrong" coils to get new coilpacks :-)

Cheers. We'll get the car and see what pt numbers are on the coils and go from there.

Remember to contact the dealer too so they can check if it's open for the car.

If anyone wants replacement coilpacks, I have a set of "J" ones available that are subject to recall,

Quote 28F7 when you call

Couldn't be bothered faffing about getting in touch with Skoda and arranging an appointment for them to look at it. Just got a new set of NGK PFR6Q plugs and a 4 Beru coils from Euro Car Parts. Got 25% off with the 'parts25' code so wasn't too painful. What came out were 2 ending with 'G',1 with 'L' and an aftermarket one.

Tbh for the sake of 1 call you would have got at least 3 of your coil packs replaced totally free of charge. I'm not sure what coil packs you've bought but a few years back I fitted an aftermarket coil pack. Not long after my car developed a very slight misfire. I just lived with it for a fair while, never thought it would be anything to do with a brand new coil pack. It was only when I went for the recall the misfire went away. Tbh buddy I would still phone your dealer and get the original coil packs fitted. They will be the best thing for your car imho.

My car is having the coil packs replaced free of charge by skoda morecombe this Friday. I sent them an email in which they replied straight away. Will post Friday evening or Saturday morning how I get on. My car is a 2002 1.8t 4x4 with 87k on the clock

Good news then its still ongoing. Before you go though just check the coil packs you have aren't D or R or they won't replace them. Any other letters they're replacing I think.

D, R, L and M won't be replaced...

Had mine replaced by skoda last week FOC. Even got it cleaned inside and out.
