Cheers guys. My handwork skills are very limited, but when it comes to cars I seem to do things a whole lot better.

Really chuffed with the outcome. Not to bad for a £7 roll of eBay. Absolutely massive roll with loads left over

Used the wife's hair dryer.

It's actually a very easy thing to do..... I think anyone with poor handy work skills could do this.

Item no: 190640365448

I bought a big roll, 1 & 1/2 metre long & about 1/2 metre wide.

You need to make sure you cut it all the same way as the carbon fibre weave won't match up.

It's honestly that simple, if I can do it, anyone can...... I tossed a flakey the other night when trying to put up a curtain pole lmao ;-)

G

loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks cool

So today I took the cluster surround out and thought I'd attempt to carbon wrap it.... Alot more difficult that I thought..... So first attempt was an utter fail.

Need to really think hard about this one, not very easy. It's all about cutting the centre correctly.

G

is not about the cut....you have to heat up the "carbon" to mold it on the exact shape. There's not another way.

I've been loving the look of your carbon and have been watching carefully before carbon-wrapping all the plastic wood in my L&K

Having done a few MTB parts I think you may need to use 2 pieces for that shape. One across the base (wrapping up the sides a bit), then another around the top curve. Cut them more or less into shape first, then use the dryer just to mold them. Because of the difficulty of getting a match in the textures across 2 pieces it might be better to run the patterns in opposite directions, so it looks deliberate rather than risk not-quite-perfect. Because it's a loop you'll have a join somewhere. :(

Alternatively, roll up a piece of carbon into a tube, pass it through the hole in the trim then allow it to expand out to fill the space. That should give you a basic one-piece shape that can be heated in without too much trouble. You'll have to work out where to put the "join" where the loop finishes for least visibility

Oh no :(

I know how you feel bud, my first headlight tint um.......

Yeah that didnt work :(

If my mirrors are anything to go by mate curves are a git, they are pros and wrap things like lambos etc and thers joints on my mirrors.... Im guessing curves not of the female..... Not fun :D

I like what you have done has a nice effect

Take 2 ??????????????????????????????????????????

take 3 it's well worth it looking good so far.

Marko

I did a good job on mine but after 2 weeks the wrap started pealing off in the sun as it is so tight across the inner dash . So not bothering any more with dash clock surround

because it's poor quality.Buy some 3M carbon wrap ,and forget about pealing

I've decided I want to do this based on the OPs pictures. However what's the best stuff to get - re: issues with peeling after a while?

Found these on ebay...

"Bubble free" stuff http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320694265514?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

or

"Genuine 3M stuff" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250631804560

or any other suggestions?

Also is there a guide to how to remove the interior pieces - without breaking anything!

Thanks.
