The mongrel's track outing Castle Combe 28/4/12

Featured Replies

Tentative start, getting a feeling for it, then 3 laps or so as close to 1 minute 30 dead. Happy with the mongrel. Sounded nice. Not sure why every minute the footage jumps back 3 seconds, but there we go. Memory might need reformatting or some settings changed in the camera

So am I, having never been there before or done proper timed stuff, but it really is just great fun if you simply adopt the philisophy of wanting to be out for a nice bit of passionate driving. I did this with Combe which is why my first lap is quite slow, second is only a bit faster. Once you get in to it, it's just really good fun.

Why did the silver octy go straight ahead ? Bout 4 an odd mins in

I think occyoccyoccy outbraked himself. Seemed to be going roughly same speed as me and I made the chicane. Perhaps he got brake fade and decided going through the tyres was the safer option?

What happened to BossFox in the Yeti??? He left you for dust

I was definitely not being smooth with the power. Only applying 100% to overtake and where I felt safe to do it :D

Because it's a drive recorder it overlaps the clips by a few seconds in case an accident happens right on the join of two clips.

You can cut this off when you manually stick the clips together.

There is also the option to change the clip length to 1,2 or 3 minutes, so less tweaking is needed later.

To be fair Jason was catching me up near the end as he stared off a bit easy and I went for it

I was just in sight on the last lap.

But I think I surprised a few people, although there was some comedy body roll as I was throwing it through the corners. :) I did more overtaking than I was expecting.

Yes - I was about 5 seconds a lap quicker by the end but I took longer to really get in the groove. I'm sure had I had another 2 laps I would have caught up but most likely struggled to really get past :D

Makes a nice noise Jas. Black around the edges of the frame makes me think peep show :giggle: Like it was a secret recording!

Plenty of cars went really well and I only briefly saw Jason. Judging by other vids if I'd have been more on it at the start I may have caught the yeti. In some ways I feel a bit disappointed but it was the most fun I've had in years.

I went past about six or so cars on the first lap, after that I had clear road and was putting in some consistant lap times.

We were going for it and don't think the Yeti had much more to give, as shown by the body roll in some of the photos.

My passenger did make a comment about body roll after the first high speed corner. :D

We got overtaken by a black Fabia VRS on lap one and another on lap four, that was all. And I get the impression neither of those were standard so we really weren't hanging about!

So considering the track was not that damp and we were in a standard car I have to say I'm really, really impressed with the Yeti.

Not bad for a car that can tow 2000kg and do a bit of offroading with a nice view. :giggle:

Very good video

Is it normal for the red fabria to put out that much black smoke????

Is it a standard petrol yeti foxy???

Some of tuned ones do smoke a bit. Some more than others.

Having followed them I can say those that smoke smell a bit bad too, probably like my VRs Fabia does.

No, it's not petrol. It's the 170 horsepower 4x4 2 litre diesel version.

I thought the smoke was a deliberate tactic to blind any potential overtakers :giggle:

JAMES BOND STYLE! :bandit:

IIRC Jabba tuned around 230bhp. It smoked like that back in 2007 when we went to CZ

 Mine stinks on idle

I think that red fabia needs some new remapping, and I told the owner as such. It shouldn't smoke THAT much,

What power does yours have Devon???

Has dyno'd 275bhp, but generally I think it runs around the 260 mark with the meth on, as a daily drive level.

Excellent,,, thats petrol isn,t it?
