I feel like the luckiest bloke in town at the moment. A friend from work with a few contacts sorted me out with a little trip to the local Ferrari dealership in Exeter.

Waiting for me was this 458 Spyder in white, truly stunning.

After drooling at it for several minutes, we got in and took it for a little spin. For the first few minutes we just pottered along waiting for the engine to get up to temp. We joined the A380 going up a steep dual carriage way over Haldon Hill and at this point he opened the tap. Holy mother, the only time i've felt acceleration like that was on the back of a Hayabusa upto 180 mph. It was just insane how quick it picked up and kept on going with zero let up. The noise was just spine tingling and with the roof down was immense.

He pulled of onto a side road and demonstrated the launch control and then pulled into a layby and got out. Time for my go!

Considering im 6'3", it was very comfortable. Lovely seats and the steering wheel in the perfect position. I was obviously a little nervous but soon settled down after a few gear changes and blips of the throttle. Made my way back onto the dual carriageway, dropped it down to 3rd and booted it. The smile I had nearly went from ear to ear, wow wow wow. What really surprised me was how easy it was to drive and how quiet it was at low speeds. Time to start saving.

When we got back, we took out this little beauty, Ferrari FF.

I had taken a mate with me so let him sit in the front, I was surprised how roomy and comfortable it was in the rear, really nice. We did the same route and hit some insane speeds! Feeling generous, I let my mate drive back and despite shaking, he had as much fun as I did.

When we got back to the showroom, we were free to sit in all the cars and even go into the garage at the back where there was an F40 and 280 GTO being repaired. Felt so privileged to be so close to the cars I had on my wall as a kid, as despite the F40 clearly being not very well put together, looked incredible and felt terrifying just to sit in. I never thought I wold get to drive cars like this and loved every second, it was a real shame to get back in the vRS. Unfortunately they don't do 20 years interest free credit!!

Bike is the way to go then get an old busa for 1% of the cost of a 458 = WIN!

Sex wee experience!! The closest I ever got to my childhood wall poster was a Lambo Diablo. It was getting a new exhaust fitted down long life. I sat in it and that was it. Then I saw it again when I was out and about in my skyline about to join the A38 slip road at marsh mills I don't know whether he was playing with me but I managed to keep up till about 90 then he just seemed like I was standing still. Drool!!

Love the F40. That was another wall poster. I've only seen one in the flesh while travelling through Switzerland on the way to Italy. I was only a puppy then.

yesterday I saw in liverpool a ferrari 458 in red and the reg was F458 RED probally cost more than my vrs just for the number plate.........jealous.....er.....yes

sounds like one of those day's you'll remember for a long time.

He was a very competent driver so I was surprisingly calm. Yes it was damp and you can hear the wheels spinning up in 1st. Loads of traction after that though.

Be careful.. will upset the VRS tdi boys lol!

Good job you took that White 458. There was another 458 in the car park with registration plate 'M1ASSA' which spins into a hedge as soon as you leave the car park.
