Sister to our Yeti

Featured Replies

We've just bought a 7-month old Roomster 1.2S DSG with 8,500 miles to replace my wife's M-B A Class. We had a Roomster 1.9Tdi 5 years ago. I was so impressed with the 1.2 DSG that I could be tempted to change the Yeti order. I wonder why they don't do this engine and gearebox with 4x4?

Dealer tells me that they aren't taking orders for Fabia DSG models and that Roomsters with DSG could take up to 15 months!

My new Yeti 140 DSG is still on target for October, I believe.

PS as it's red, wife is calling it little red rooster!

The 1.2 has not enough torque for a 4 x 4. It has the power but not the torque, for that you need a bigger engine.

Congrats to your new car: I also have a 1.2 TSI DSG Roomster, and I am very happy with it. Compared to the old 1.9 TDI in the Roomster the small petrol feels almost as powerful, but has much less interior noise since the engine is more quiet and the gearing ratios are much better suited for highway cruising in the 1.2 TSI. I also drove a Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG for almost a year, and the engine was more than sufficient in this bigger car as well. As long as you stay mostly on roads and don't tow anything too heavy, you really don't need a bigger engine than this - and even a 2WD Yeti can handle some pretty rough stuff thanks to the better road clearance.
