Clutches making my head hurt!

Featured Replies

Decided to get a better clutch as mine just slips all the time when giving it beans which I knew was a downside to a remap.

anyway after trolling this site and many others I am non the wiser:

I was 90% sure I was going with a Stage 3 CG Motorsport clutch and pressure plate and use stock fly wheel and release bearing (know few folk doing this) anyway didn't see the point in leaving my current fly wheel in as its done 70k so new clutch new flywheel, skoda quoted me £489+vat just for fly wheel! nearly passed out.

Then I decided to go with the SACHS kit:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-VRS-SOLID-FLYWHEEL-CARBON-KEVLAR-CLUTCH-/280649606534?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4158052586#ht_1883wt_1396

which I dont really have a problem with other than its a SMF which I heave mixed views on, are they as bad for destroying gearboxes as I have read or is that just rubbish?

was wondering if there was anyone close to cumbria with a SMF I could go for a wee spin wit to see what its like?

Cheers in advanced

Chris

Sorry forgot to say that. Currently running at 177bhp and 306fpt (awsume map) I am intending to go higher but nowt major.

Currently car engine is stock part from filter, remap and EGR delete pipe. looking at a full milltek decat and all, and a hybrid pd150 in the future and that will be me done for power.

think I will go with the Awsume GTI clutch kit to be on the safe side, it sounds great from their reviews.

that AWESOME kit does look good for the price, what is it rated to though. I think its what I will be going with when it comes time.

I will let you know when I call them tomorrow.

I cant wait to go back to a dmf! I hate the noise the smf makes and everyone telling me it sounds ******.
