misfire when accelerating

Featured Replies

hi i have a 2006 2ltr tdi laurin klement octavia over the last week it as started to miss fire when pressed a little it feels as though its being starved of fuel

it comes in around 3000 revs and struggles up to 4 and half like a switch being turned on and off any ideas guys

I had a similar problem with my Focus 1.6TDci, which was down to a wiring fault between the fuel pressure sensor in the common rail and the control unit. The sensor null signal returned an over pressure default warning, so it was cutting the high presure fuel pump and starving the engine of fuel.

Has it ever had the fuel filter changed? They can clog up well before the recommended interval.

yes fuel filter changed !!!

U can't really compare it to others cars as they all have diff faults of there own.

You'll be surprised how many cars have universal problems, something like this can be rather uncommon but it does sound like an electrical/sensor problem. Either fuel or turbo. Theres not alot of cars that have mechanical faults nowadays

Have you had it scanned?

True, but a CR diesel works in much the same way whoever makes it, the sensor protocol is much the same; they (the car manufacturers) all use the same suppliers after all, and Bosch are the most common. Same function, different shape, and different levels of quality (which is why I would never ever buy a French car)

The OP's car isn't common rail, it will be a PD, so there's no fuel rail or high pressure pump as such. The PD system is a bit of an oddity and different in many ways from a common rail system.

By the way, you presumably didn't realise that the 1.6 TDCi in your Focus was actually French ...its a Peugeot 1.6 HDi. :giggle:

If it isnt the clutch slipping its an air or fueling problem, diagnostic testing is required.

I did, and spent enough time finding out how unreliable it was! To be fair, the root cause was probably a stone or similar thrown up which damaged the wiring. The worst part was the torture of dealing with inept Ford garages.

That said, I know having worked in the auto supply industry for 20 odd years that the French bar makers do not spend as much on their component parts as the Japanese do, or even Ford these days, hence my comments. There is more to fail than simply the engine.
