I mean... If you were planning on JOMS why not get FK AK's?

I was under the impression that they were pretty much all the same spec....?

yeh ive seen these, but people say JOM are better then the FK with less warranty issues, so not sure about the FKs

But if all you're doing is trundling around to make it a bit lower... They'd be more than good enough for that as long as you grease them.

How long you keeping the car? If its over 12 months then get decent coilovers like AP and Weitec. I had jom (and fk ak similar) on my Golf MK2 and whilst they did the job of lowering and were faily sound ride quality wise they seized on even with care taken and they started rusting pretty badly.

I think as with most things you get what you pay for. But if you were going to go for JOMS, FK-AK's are not exactly any worse from what i've seen.

The key thing to note here is...

REALLY remember to keep them clean. As with all coilovers, if you neglect them then adjusting is never going to work.

Recommendation would be to buy some teflon spray, similar to:

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/lubricants/putoline-ptfe-cable-spray-500ml

And make sure they're coated pretty well with it. Most coilover manufacturers (including FK) now sell teflon coilover spray, but this would do just as good a job.

just out of interest can the Weitec run on shorter drop links even if i dont slam the car?

or should i return them and go for soem new oem droplinks?

thanks

I believe the early sets of Weitecs needed shorter droplinks, but the later/newer Weitecs didn't as the bolting position is the same as KW's. could do with someone confirming mate.

Cheers

Dave

you wont need the drop links for the weitecs mate they are exactly the same as ap's just different colours. I didnt replace mine either but if you already got the mondeo ones see if you can do an exchange (depending on the store) and i suppose you will basicly be replacing the lot then with what you have bought.

You have to cut the standard ones. The Ibiza

Ones is a straight fit. Got a price from tps - £24 for 2.

Reason why I bought the Ibiza ones is that I want to keep the standard parts intact Incase introvert back in the future.
