Advice: a new Octy VRS Vs a 2nd hand one?

Featured Replies

Good work doing the deal.

I'm assuming for that year it's the TSI enigine?

You can get bluetooth and parking sensors fitted pretty cheap and good quality. If you really wanted I know someone in Sheffield (who is sub contracts to by VW/Skoda) who can retro-fit the sensors and heated seats. Although you can retrofit a sunroof I dont think I would take the risk.

I assume you are thinking of a columbus as well?

I suppose when you look at the saving its got to be the right way forward.

What did the dealer say when you cancelled the order? Have you got any chance of your money back, even if its in the way of a service?

What stage are you going to this time Ron? If its the TSI I guess your going straight to a K04 :giggle:

I have a mate who does about the same, and some days more. and has just ordered another Petrol VRS, i said about a Diesel, but he doesn't like them, and he normally gets 35mpg. oh and the last one was 'mapped.

The petrol vRS is pretty economical, I got 38.2 returning to Newcastle from Blackpool yesterday doing mid to late 70s where the roads permitted.

Bloody hell, sub-£10k for a 59 plate! :(

Cheers Mark, I really hope this turns out to be a good one. It has the TSI engine which was the first thing I checked :)

Probably going to go for stage 2 map, turbo back with 200 cell cat (already bought in group buy) and S3 intercooler. Then I'll go to suspension and brakes......then onto Ko4 :p

That contact you have in Sheffield would be really great, I'm in Sheffield at least once a month for family visits with the kids.

Can you PM me please or send me a txt if you still have my number?

Going to talk to the dealer today, it has been under 14 days since my order and as a Parton it was financed, I may be able to claim a cancellation during the cooling off period but we'll see.

Cheers

Ron

Yeah no problem, would be good to meet up. I'll let you know next time I am in town!

I wouldn't buy new again. Depreciation is just too heavy.

A 2yr old in good nick is a better deal.

This is how I'll buy my next car, and every other car. My wife recently traded in her DS3 for a Diesel Ford Focus. Last of the "old" model, 11 plate, 20K on the clock, £18K list, she had it for £10K. Dealer gave us £800 back as her DS3 was worth more trade in..........

Great buy if it is as clean as you say

There are only 3 cheaper on autotraded(no DSG) 09/09.

closest(or the one) blue 10/59 £10k 42k looks like it has a remap graph in the pics.

Picked the car up last night, seems to be a minter from what I can see. Will get some pics up soon.

When I bought mine I was after a vRS diesel, estate (combi), manual and not in black but was given a deal too good to refuse on a TSI, hatch, DSG in black! I love it, the DSG is fantastic and don't miss a manual at all. Still would have preferred a different colour but so glad I have a petrol rather than an oil burner. Over the past several thousand miles it's averaged 37mpg according to the computer and can easily see 40+ on a long steady run.

In manual mode it is very fast at shifting but I'm having trouble know what gear I am in. When I drive a manual, my brain seems to remember what gear I last went into from almost muscle memory, I don't think about it.

It is rapid though! Would like some dry roads to give it a proper go.
