More sunday mods...

Featured Replies

well today i changed the turbo pipe and the intercooler pipe... were so easy...!!

Also fitted my new Hypeboost DV... car seems less laggy and never loeses boost... shame its no loudeer then standard DV :( Sacrifice made all in the name of speed!

also did the finnishing touches on my airbox mods.. i run a cold air feed from the box to the front of the bumper so it scoops lots of nice cold air striaght up into the box.... now the intresting bit is where i have run the tube... for a start the tube shoots stratight into the box at the same place as the oval OEM feed is that was removed the pipe then runs past the battery i removed one of the two horns and run it along the front cut a hole through some plastic and it other end is situated in the bottom right hand corner of the middle grill....nice and neat and out the way

Easy!! I heard they were a pig to do, oh no that looks like another mod for me then, which pipes did you get? Any chance of a "how to" for these... :)

i reaplced with standard pipes i had to do this as i knackard the other orginals putting on my last DV.... i was going to do a step by step picture how too... but forgot my camera... then foudn that it was in my glove box all along after id done the job DOH!! i to ohad heard it was a pig of a job and was not lokking forward to it... with no idea what i was doing it still only took just over an hour !!

Intercooller pipe.... this is the pipe thats runs from the manifold to the intercooler..

1. Remove head light undo all visable screws and the cheaky hidden one behind the indicator

2. slide head light forward and dissconnect wires remove light completely

3. undo bottom clip, undo top clip...

4. pull like crazy top and bottom...

5. push and wiggle on new pipes on tighten up jubilee clips

6. replace head light

Turbo pipe, this pipe goes from the MAF to the turbo.

1. first thing make sure you have 4 new clips two ~10mm ones and two 25mm ones the ones used are not reusable and take of engine cover.

2. undo the jubilee clip holding the pipe on to the MAF pull to dissconnect the pipe from the MAF

3. take off all clips connecting pipes to the main pipe this can be however you want as long as you get the clip off, pull out all pipes connected.

4. move the pipes you have just disconnect out the way, follow the pipe down to is base you will see a thin bit of metal around the top of what the pipe is connected to remove this thin bit of metal

5. take the pipe with both hand and pull hard, the pipe will POP out.

6. Place in new pipe so its at the right angle its hard to get wrong as the pipe has two lugs at the end line these up with the housing.

7. Replace all disconnected pipes using your new clips to secure.

8. finally attach the pipe to the MAF and tighten up the jubilee clip

PHEW your done and so am i lol

What's the pipe for the air intake, Joel?

  • Author

just one that came with the K&N when i brought it....oh and out of intrest the standard air intake that disapears into the wing goes no where! it sucks cold air from inside the wing but this air flow is restricted and deffentaly can benifit from some sort pipe going to teh front

Joel

Thats looks fantastic mate! Keep up the pioneering work!

Your mods keep giving me more inspiration to stop being lazy and actually do some! lol

removing the satandard pipe is a piece of cake its the fitting of the samco replacement that is a bit of a nightmare. i also changed the intake pipe and found it faily easy but i did it with everything in place :D

I doubt it will do much harm getting some cool air into the engine compartment anyway :D

The actual steps to change the TIP are easy it's just that it's very tight...oooeer.....around that area.

Also a good idea to be able to have access to the TIP from below.

shame its no loudeer then standard DV

This will sort that :D You know it makes sense!

I fitted an 80mm intake pipe to the standard airbox this weekend after spending most of the week cutting out the passenger side grille (can't use the centre grille due to FMIC). The duct I used is very strong yet still flexible and is made by Green. Cost
