I am looking at dumping Sky altogether, BT can offer me 78meg using their new infinity 2 product. Even Sky on my phone exchange cannot offer that.

Not all fibre enabled exchanges can get those speeds though.

Sky does win with their 'all you can get' policy to make up for the 'relatively' slow speed so it's not all bad.

Manny, if your happy with half that full speed and their traffic shaping then alls good.

The only person I know with infinity regrets leaving sky and finds it no better for speed at peak times.

BT offer lots of people lots of speeds........it's what they actually deliver that counts ;)

Mine doesn't work correctly, along with many other peoples.

Router syncs at 39998, bto modem syncs at 39998, real world is half that with any speed test apart from the BT one giving me a max of 22mbps, constant throughput of around 2.2mbps when downloading, I was expecting double that!

There's big threads on the sky forum and the skyuser forum with a lot of people getting the same result.

Phoned sky and they seemed determined to prove it was something wrong with my setup, even got me to run netstat! Eventually said I'd need to wait until the DLM finished before they could do anything.

Fingers crossed you get a good install!

That sounds like a wrong bRAS IP Profile. Ask them to reset it. You're capable of synching at a high speed, but the bRAS router has decided that you're connection hasn't been stable at some point, and limited you to 22Mb.

I use BT fibre and get 38mbs.

My wife works for sky so we get staff price so it's a no brainer. Plus it is unlimited with no traffic shaping so much better proposition than the BT one (which is quoting the same max speed). I BT estimated I can get 27 meg.. Sky estimate the very same. BT cap at a 40 gb download per month, and sky do not. BT want more money..... Decision made :)

Wouldn't touch BT with a 40ft pole, ever.

However, I have Sky Fibre and am loving it. 40Mb so far, waiting for them to offer 80Mbit profile. Max attainable rate for my line (taken from BT Modem) is 73Mbit, so happy days for g_tee

Also, PROTIP - The line checkers are conservative. BT gave 52Mbit/10.9 for my estimate, it's 72/23 according to my modem.

I'm still waiting for my exchange to be enabled, should be by June. Then fingers crossed they have actually upgraded my nearest cabinet. Sick of 2Mb or less now. :(

Our exchange was one of the first enabled over a year ago, but they only enabled our cabinet in the last week or so. Good old BT, they boasts about what percentage of the exchanges are enabled but never mentioned how few people on an enabled exchange can actually get fibre.
