Roof Bar mounting point plastic covers!

Featured Replies

I fitted my new thule roof bars at the weekend and got a bit confused at the first hurdle!

I've removed the plastic covers over the mounting point but they don't seem to go back properly. It looks like the bit they clip into has moved under the gutter cover on the car. This means they don't fit back on properly.

Has anyone else had problems with these fiddly bits of plastic, or is it just me?

BTW, the thule fixpoint XT foot pack with aero bars looks very tidy once it is all mounted.

They drive me mad, I had the same problem, I think you'd have to remove the plastic strip to re-align it. If anyone has a simple solution I'd like to know what it is.

Inside the hole revealed by removing the plastic bit is a metal piece that slides fore and aft. No idea what it's for. Move it out of the way (if it's slid under the roof, fish it out with a screwdriver) and re-fit the plastic bits.

Where did you get your rack from? I have been looking around and can only find a 'complete kit' the Thule 4307. I think it just has the square bars etc so not too pretty. Also how much were your parts?

I thought the OEM one was Thule and about

ah - but the OEM has the horid square bars, not the nice aero ones.

ahh

:) J.M. BUTT do the OEM bars cheaper than the main dealers, did buy the paddy hopkirk ones (took them back for refund) and they fitted into the door seal and you only have about 1/4" gap around the door frame. :finger:
