Best I've used is megs tyre gel. It's also great for bumper trims too. Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2

There is the downside of the vehicles that it is used on looking very 'Kerb Side Autos' car sales when they have that stuff applied to their tyres.

The gloss effect stuff do you mean?

They don't apply it properly

What do you recommend George?

I meant the stuff in post #48. Very gash, but that is obviously just a personal opinion.

It's all in the application.

I always wipe off...Used car dealers usually dont

But that's just cleaning them, not dressing them Brad

Rubber will crack if you don't dress them after using harsh cleaners

It dresses as well - it's got a bit of silicone or similar in it as it's designed as a furniture / timber / formica "polish" (leaves a shiney surface).  If you can clean a varnished timber table or a plastic bench top then it's not a harsh cleaner.

I've never had rubber crack unless it was a really old tyre that should be scrapped but we don't get the same harsh winters as you guys (although I summer temperatures are harsh on tyres - kaboom!).

The engine oil guy - LOL.  We used to do vinyl tops with engine oil - my God it hid some terrible faults.

Strewth :'(

I like the AG tyre dressing, nice and quick and you can spray it onto a sponge and just wipe it round the tyre, 5 seconds max per tyre. Although driving down a little farm track it doesn't look good for long. :(

Swissvax - Pneu

Best imo as it last ages and leaves the tyres looking new but matte not glossy

I use megs - it smells nice too.

I don't understand this. Why do you chose car cleaning stuff based even partly on smell? (exterior of course)

I chose it before smelling it lol :)

Ran out of CG stuff, so trying GTechniq T2. Seems ok so far, little goes a long way

Its just a bonus

Like a nice smelling wax.

Just makes it nicer to apply (:

Have you used it?

We must all share his opinion and general outlook on life.

Otherwise expect his attempt at a *******ing.

Just sayin.

I wont say anymore (:

silver1011, Yes I have used it and lots of stuff over the years, starting off painted lots of tyres when an apprentice in a garage workshop & used car preparations as you do,

so really got to know lots of commercial stuff, and had lots of cars with rubbish stuff and sometimes pretty decent stuff on tyres.

Even used Boot Polish on Fire Engine Tyres when really young,

and that means what it is typed as, not a  double meaning.

Thanks George, I've tried all sorts of 'off the shelf' tyre blacks over the years, admittedly not the Megs, which seems to get very favourable reviews on here.

What I like about the Autosmart is it is easily diluted to make it less shiny which is what I assume you meant by gash?

I'll leave the Chuckle Brothers above to their own off-topic high-fiving.

No Gash was intended as said, pretty cr4p,  eg  looks Kerb Side Autos Car Sales type finish IMO.

But then i suppose when you take the effort and apply it correctly it suits you.

Yeah, I actually prefer the shiny look so apply it neat and in copious amounts. It seems to last longer then too so after a few days it's dulled to a less 'used car' look.

The ease of application appeals too. I've struggled in the past with the sprays (covers the wheels as well as the tyres) and the gels (get more on my hands!).

Will try the Megs though since so many people like it.

Don't forget to sniff it :)

Smell what! ?
