Best I've used is megs tyre gel. It's also great for bumper trims too. Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2

I'll just ignore the 10 posts in between of you and George bickering!

Megs endurance looks good, but for me the fling you get off it is rediculous.

Megs hot shine i think its called seems to have less fling.

Currently im using autoglym tyre black. Certainly not the best but almost zero fling. It was free so may aswell use it up.

My FinishKare #108AS Top Kote Tire Dressing arrived from CYC yesterday (at least I hope it was in the box as I haven't opened it yet!) and am looking forwards to trying that out - especially as it only cost £4 and is supposed to be enough to do at least two sets of tyres.

I cleaned the car at the weekend and applied the KKD Trim 'X' Tyre and Trim Sealant and it still looks good four days later and after having driven through a ford today. It is definitely a matt finish so would recommend it of that is your preference (and you can use it on plastic trim to good effect as well).

I cleaned the tyres with snow foam as part of the wash and then with Car Pro Eraser before applying the Trim 'X' and it made the tyres turn a funny colour - kind of a yellow grey on top of the black! Was a bit weird.

If I remember tomorrow, I'll get some pictures.

The 'Fling' you refer to is due mainly to over application

I always apply liberally and then wipe with a old MF cloth, this way, there is no 'fling'

But you need them bling bling

Dont you just take it off then and it looks matt??

No. I don't need bling...LOL

I love the shine  B)

Here is my old vRS with Autosmart on!

I appreciate the shine is too bling for some, I like this...

But when the sun comes out it gets a bit much...

To Chris's point though nothing a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth won't fix.

They actually look better than I thought they would

I will probably get some of this eventually

I like the Meguiars 'Hot Shine' tyre spray!

Although, I do not spray it. I squirt a little into a container and then brush it on with a small fine paintbrush. Easy enough.

Same here, pour some into a pot and brush it on, lasts along time.

Autosmart. This is what the trade use. It's applied with a brush in seconds and lasts very well.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autosmart-Non-silicone-Highstyle-5-Litres-tyre-plastic-bumper-dressing-/170780045322?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item27c348b00aAll the gels, aerosols, creams and over rated brands (Dodo Juice etc.) are all best left on Halfords shelf.

I know its an old thread but having searched it out, I took the plunge and bought the above product.

It turned up today which was handy as I had just spent 2 hours cleaning the car.

I have applied it but do you let it go onto the start of the tread or do you keep it within the sidewall only?

Also how do you store the brush after?

Looks nice :)

Good choice!

I usually go a few centimeters beyond the sidewall, after a few hundred meters of driving any part of the tyre that is in contact with the road that has the tyre black on is back to plain tyre very quickly, thus giving you a nice even mark between tyre shine and tyre tread!

I store my tin on a shelf and the brush just sits on top with the bristles all on the top to catch any drips. I use a brush that came with an old purchase of Wonder Wheels wheel cleaner, a round type brush like this rather than a traditional flat brush...

Another option would be to use the lid from an aerosol tin and sit the brush in that?

The guys at the hand car washes use a plastic milk carton with a chunk cut out under the opening but I don't use it often enough and would be worried about it drying up or me knocking it over and spilling it!

Cheers for info.

Was worried the brush would dry out and end up useless next time.

:)

If you get any on your fingers it feels like WD40, very slippery. I've left my brush for many months and its been fine, no stiff bristles here  :D

Oh, and when you run the brush around the base of the tyre be careful not to touch the driveway. I have a tarmac drive that has faded over the years so is light grey. The tyre black leaves a nice black mark on the surface which takes a few weeks to disappear!

That autostart stuff is class! My mate works for bmw and they use it on their cars,he managed to get some and we used it on our cars. apply it with a paint brush it stays on for yonks lol
