New VRs Interior

Featured Replies

AAAAaaaaarrrgghhhh!!!!

Hi everyone- been registered for ages, but 1st post!

Major problem with new car, went to pick it up today & interior is the wrong colour- ordered black

alcantara & it arrived in standard light grey. Has anybody had this happen & if so how did it get

resolved? Majorly fed up- not dealers fault, Skoda QA system appears to have gone horribly wrong!

Any suggestions gretfully accepted!

You could reject the new car based on it not being what you ordered. That may be a little drastic however. You should get something in return however. It might be viable to replace the seat covers. If not see what you can get from the dealer - a service or some accessories?

Accept only if they offer a suitable reduction as it is not what you ordered, and is material in my opinion.

Reject if you want to stick to your original choice and they stand by current trade in price etc etc for future delivery.

Balls in your court I think.

Call Skoda Customer care.

options are :-

Refuse to accept the car & wait for correct specification

Accept car but ask for a token gesture

Request Skoda pay to have the interior redone at thier cost to what you want.

Why didnt the dealer notice the mistake and let you turn up to collect the car ?

The seats are the same, its not unreasonable to ask them to replace with the darker covers I would imagine.

Unfortunately it's not just the covers it's all of the seats, the door panels, steering wheel, handbrake, gear stick gaiter, central arm rest etc.

The alcantara is trimmed with red stitching- I've seen pictures & it looks really smart!!

Thanks for the swift response guys, dealer is calling me tomorrow to try to resolve. I'll let you know the outcome!

I would never have taken my car if it had turned up without the black alcantara, the difference is massive and I know it's a long way off, but think about resale time...it is far more desirable in my and most others opinions!

Also, if you want to keep the car, don't let them just refund the option cost. I think a fair solution would be a professional leather retrim...that's the only solution I'd settle for!

looks like the order was entered incorrectly into the skoda ordering system?!?!?

i'd b pee'ed off.

as lfc958 already mentioned - why didn't the dealer pick this up?

unless ofcourse he put the order in wrong in the 1st place, and picked the std silver/grey trim - that would explain why he didn't spot this HUGE mistake!!

can't automatically blame skoda hq. demand to c the order ticket. i'd b very surprised if it had "black", and skoda put in silver/grey by mistake.

Personally I'd be expecting to drive that car until they can supply a new one as ordered - all FOC. Don't know if that's realistic or

Not.

I wouldn't be interested in any retrim. If they wouldn't do the above, then I'd probably reject the car. If they wanted me to keep it then I'd want a refund of the option cost (if you've paid it) plus a token £1000. Again, dunno if it realistic but don't really care - its their mistake so don't be fobbed of with a free service or Amy such nonsense......

I would reject the car you pay same price to change

I would reject the car in a heartbeat as I thought I would have the same issue when I collected mine.

It was my fault as I ordered the black seats later in the order and nothing from the dealer to say it had been done other than a conversation to say its been added to the build.

I was always prepared to reject the car after 12 weeks.

I am so pleased It arrived as requested.

Good luck with the battle.

Re-order and insist on a courtesy car for the meantime.

I had an identical thing on a Smart car a few years ago... A smaller job admittedly!... But they retrimmed the seats at their cost. Actually ended up with a much better job!

I'd reject for sure and I would not opt for a retrim as its never a 100% successfull and will not be like factory.

actually forgot the trim is all over including steering wheel, if you must have it, defintinely reject the car

I'd re-order and insist on being looked after in the meantime.

I had a similar but less serious / stressful incident. My vRS arrived in July 2010. I ordered the full leather. When the car arrived all was good except the rear offside seat squab (on its own!!) was in a dubious blue / grey cloth! Yes, really! There's a thread on here from July 2010 where I discussed my disgust and asked everyone's opinions!

In the end the dealer had the squab retrimmed in leather (it's basically a zip on cover) two weeks later and it matches the rest perfectly.

But for you, sounds like the whole interior needs re-doing. As I said, if you really want what you ordered (as I imagine you would!), insist they re-order for you and put you in a loan car in the meantime!

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your comments. Had call from dealer today, they have located another car with

the black alcantara, which they will be delivering to the dealership next week. The plan is to

switch the interiors. I have expressed concerns that this is not being carried out in a factory environment

- the salesman has assured me that it is a straightforward job which will be carried out by 2 of their more

experienced technicians. Rest assured I will be all over the car like a rash once the work has been

completed & will reject the car if I am not happy with the workmanship!

the salesman has assured me that it is a straightforward job

What would they know? They couldn't put through the order correct in the first place!!!

I would be rejecting the car now, problem is cars are an emotional purchase and you see that as your car - sounds as though you may be better starting from scratch again with a new, fresh order - I would.

Looks like this solution suits the dealer rather than you - did they say "What would you like us to do as it is our mistake?" - the good customer focused response - or "We will do this to get us out a hole and get your cash quicker (and who cares about rattles that may develop)?" - dealers are only there to take your hard earned.

Straightforward jobs do not need 2 more experienced technicians - is it me or that doesn't make sense??? - oxymoron.

All the best.

Its when the annoying rattle starts in the door card after its all been disturbed and refitted .... It would plague me!! I would hold out and get what I had ordered... :)

sent from my phone....

The ordering fault actually lies with Skoda- not the dealership. They ordered it correctly, it was built incorrectly (all the

other options are as I asked for). The problem is my balloon payment is due in a weeks time as are the road tax & mot

on my current vrs & I really don't want to wait 10-12 weeks for a re-build.

Mike, Interesting point raised about the production codes though!

Just a thought, the Limited Edition VRs were shipped over without interiors & the leather was retrofitted in this country

-I haven't had any issues with mine (no. 115- should really have posted that one!), so as long as I make sure that the

workmanship on the new one is ok!

Might see if I can meet the guys who are going to fit the interior to get a bit more comfort in their abilities- if it's 2 spotty

YTS lads in hoodies I may change my opinion!!!

barnsleyboy, I sympathise with your position and would be sorely tempted to go along with the dealer and have the 'new' interior fitted.

BUT, it won't be as good as new, might well rattle (actually probably will - VERY annoying), and you will always know that it has been amended from the factory build.

If there are other costs that will be incurred (balloon payment on your old car etc), you should be compensated.

Don't be fobbed off. Don't worry about what the dealer thinks of you! That doesn't matter. Look after no. 1. It's your money at the end of the day!

The ordering fault actually lies with Skoda- not the dealership. They ordered it correctly, it was built incorrectly (all the

other options are as I asked for).

i find that very hard to believe!!

did the dealer show u the original order? request for screenshots of the NADCON Car Configuration page, for ur order.

the dealer orders directly into the skoda factory system using production codes. these codes then feed their ordering system, and determine the car's production date, based on the availability of the parts. parts arrive 2 wks in advance for ur order, car is asseblemed & bob's ur uncle.

the "black interior" became standard after a certain production week. maybe the time ur car was ordered was around that time, and the dealer was under the impression that 'black' was std and didn't bother checking.

skoda receieves the order with the previously std/default silver/grey interior, plus ur options.

car is built.

as everyone else already mentioned - the dealership wants to pull everything apart from the interior of the car!!! potential broken clips! potential scratches! glue! resin! and finally rattles down the track!! do u really want that?!?!?!

anyway....choice is urs in the end. its ur car after all.

Edited by JR RS

I'd get onto skoda uk ASAP...I'm pretty sure they will NOT entertain this crazy plan of swapping interiors and you'll get an answer as to who cocked up! They will also be able to provide a courtesy car etc for you. They will be much more help than the dealership in this case! 0845745745

Changing whole interior is a bad job on a new car as u will get rattles ;(

Definitely, definitely with those who say re-order. Remember the interior of the car is the place where you will spend the vast majority of your time with the car, and you can rightfully expect it is as you ordered, and fitted properly by the factory to their standards, not by your dealer's "best people". There are any number of opportunities for things to go wrong during the refit and for you to not know until you later realise something is missing, something is a hybrid between the two cars' specs because a detail has been missed, or becomes evident when it inevitably starts rattling prematurely.

Is black alcantara an option that has been added recently? Was it available at the end of 2010?
