Only missed it by £50 too, but I had a budget and stuck to it. It might fall through yet, I know what ebay's like. I've found another one I like, can't remember now if its on ebay or autotrader but its a trader, its in Wolverhampton and its priced up at £2150.

At the moment round here it's looking like that Skoda in my original three. There's just nothing round here. Could always buy a focus lol there's hundreds of them for sale round here!

Hi mate

Its a bit of a drive but there is this golf tdi. It needs taxing but will still be under budget at asking price once taxed. Obviously you d offer less.

Its ebay item number: 300716964425

Worth a look i think. Fsh, cam belt and pump done etc.

It's too far, I wouldn't have the fuel to get there let. I saw this today, it's just up the road but I don't know if it's expensive especially as it'll be out of MOT in a few months,

I think you could get one for similar money with less miles tbh . It will be fine on the miles but id be haggling for a full mot in with the deal and also pushing for a years tax. Its really only £175 you asking for at screen price so you could look at it as piece of mind for you as your pushing the mot side onto them but use it that your not haggling them down on the price as such but just put it to them that you d give them the screen price if you put an mot on it with 12 mth tax.

If they dont agree to the mot then id be conscious they are worried it might fail on something and id shy away.

2 pages into a welcome thread and welcome!

hope you get yourself sorted mate.

I know the good people of briskoda will help where they can

Looks clean in the pic mate.

Bet its stressing you now ey . Is it a 3dr your after? Im certain i could find a3dr golf gt tdi for well under budget for u

Ideally I wanted a 5 door, but the Ibiza looked quite roomy so was prepared to give it a go. After all, it's not me having to climb in and out of the back!

There are quite a few golfs, but the prices vary so much and the models and I wasn't sure if they'd be too small. I decided to stop looking at them as I was just getting more confused! Any help would be great and obviously the less I have to spend the better. I'd like to at least get a car and tow bar in the 2k even if I can't get a trailer too.

Golf mk4s are imo same size as the ibiza.

I have had many mk4 gt tdi's and i like them . I will have a look for you.

It's sold. So's the Ibiza. Just done another Ebay, Autotrader and Gumtree search for Ibiza's, Fabia's and Golfs and can't find anything. Think I will have to start looking at other car's...

That one on Ebay is 160 miles from me,

I have bought the yellow one. Rightly or wrongly but I've had enough now! I did quite a bit of looking around before I went to see it and the fact that it's 5 door seems to make a massive difference to the price. Think they look better with 3 doors but it will be more practical for me.

I didn't get the price down, in fact spent more, but I'm happy with the deal. The cam belt had been done at 50k in 2008 so I got the guy to get the service book out as I was pretty sure that meant it would need doing now and it did. So after a long chat with his manager they've agreed to change the cam belt and water pump for £100. There was a bulb gone on one of the rear lights and they're going to replace that and re gas the air con, they're also going to pay half the 12 months tax for me.

Also getting a full valet and 12 month warranty (although knowing the way insurance works it won't be worth diddly!)

So I am now the proud owner of a bright yellow Seat Ibiza Sport!

Thanks for all your help, it really made it easier to have a bit of confidence I knew what I was talking about.

Congratulations. Im glad uve found one. Does look a nice car, im sure it will serve u well.

Bought mine via autotrader - live in Plymouth - went to Peterborough to get it - full service history - purchased warranty with car via a trade dealer for £1950 - 2004 125000 miles on clock - top of the range car drives like a dream and fast! 6 gears for economy. Bodywork and paint work excellent.
