Will 195/45/16 tyres be ok on y standard vrs wheels? Think they will be just that there cheaper haha

will cause the speedo to read out 1mph mor than you're actually doing i.e. if it shows 70mph, you'll actually be doing 69mph

Yeah they`ll be ok. The speedo cant be put out by 1mph can it? Else when it reads 1mph your actually doing 0mph hahahahahaha It works on percentage.

I think they'd fit but as said above the speedo will be out slightly but barely noticeable. I personally wouldn't change the tyres to a smaller size, are the wheels not to wide for dropping down a ratio? Not really sure....

It's time for me to replace the front tyres on mine, not sure what to get and I don't really want to be spending £100's atm.... These new Maxxis have had good reviews online and they look pretty good..

Not quite. The 45 bit on the tyre size is the % of the width of the tyre so if the tyre is thinner then the profile of the tyre is slightly smaller :think:

I thought the 45 bit was the hight from the rim to the top of the tyre

It is.

Take a 205/50 tyre. The height of the tyre is 102.5mm as it is 50% of the width.

A 205/45 tyre has a height of 92.25mm as it is 45% of the width.

The OP will be dropping from a tyre height of 92.25mm to 87.75mm.

Long story cut short, any changes will be minimal, I run 195/45/16 speedo is as wrong as before, I always rely on old trusty gps for my speed

Less tyre on the road = less grip. Doubt you'd notice though!

The speedo under reads anyway so you wont notice the difference

I had 195 tyres on the front of my fabia and they were fine. Obviously not that amazing when driving briskly due to the decreased width/grip

but you can buy a better tyre for the money so that covers the loss in grip!

defeats the purpose of buying a ccheaper tyre though!

Just had two 205/45 R16 Falken ZE912's fitted on the front at my local Skoda dealer, £65 each fitted.

I had some of them, 4 brand new ones lasted me 7 weeks. Think my tracking was naff though

Impressed with them actually, much less tyre noise and good steering feel compared to the hankooks that have just been taken off. A few 100 miles and they should be worn in nicely
