09 Octavia Scout - Alarm going off !

Featured Replies

Hi All, My Ocy Scout has its alarm going off intermittently, I was next to the car the other day when it happened and then scanned it with VCDS and it showed no faults, anybody else had any problems with the Ocy 2 ? cheers - Stuart

I had this problem with my Octy vRS when I bought it last year. I took it back in to the dealership and they reduced the "sensitivity" of the alarm and since then all has been well.

Had the same thing with my first 09 registered Yeti, again dealer adjusted the sensitivity and the issue went away.

I also have (had?) this problem with my current Octavia.

Told the dealer that there was a problem when it went in for its first service. They told me that they could see no faults and that they had referred it back to Skoda. That was two months ago and I have not had the alarm go off since, nor have I had any feedback from the dealer. If it was a setting they could play with why not tell me? :(

It's not uncommon to get an insect (spider / moth etc.) in the car and for this to set the alarm off as they crawl past the sensors...

Experienced this with previous vehicles but not yet with my Scout. Try turning off the internal sensors for few days keep a evict any bugs in the mean time. Moths can be a pain, tend to hide during the day & active after dark so alarm goes off in the middle of the night.

The car is in a field at Hay on Wye with my wife in charge so I told her to switch off the internal sensors (door pillar sw) and see how it goes on, so there must be a setting in VCDS for alarm sensitivity ? cheers - Stuart

Stuart,

I had a similar problem with my car recently, although my car is a Pre-FL so what follows may be slightly different on your car.

Using VCDS you can check the last 4 alarm activation causes by checking measuring block group 20 in the central convenience module. The triggers are shown as numbers and if you hover your mouse pointer over them, VCDS will display an explanation as to what they refer to. If it is the interior monitoring sensor that is triggering the alarm, you can adjust / reduce the sensitivity via the Adaptation function under Advanced Functions of the central convenience module.

Hope the above helps

Thanks for that 'owl' I will have a look if I get a chance at the weekend, I haven't noticed anything different when I next switch the alarm off so I presume the car won't inform you of the alarm going off unlike my last added aftermarket alarm ? cheers - Stuart

My car has or had the alarm going off intermittently. Even to the extent of it going off all the time i was driving to work, 10 mins. Worked it out to every time I had opened the bonnet to check oil extra. Once went off while driving down the motorway, and stopped after I opened and shut the bonnet. So may try and get a new switch for it at some point.

Mines a 56 Octavia vRS btw.
