Well my driverside front window finally decided to bite the dust a few weeks ago

As the title says, can anyone recommendation a decent (if that's possible for VAG's ) window regulator for a Fabia (VRS)

Just get a repair kit off ebay from Osco Ltd - the plastic guides will have snapped where the cable goes into them. You can get just the guides or guides plus cable plus drum. All are pretty easy to fit and much cheaper than a whole new regulator or carrier.

Just done my passenger side regulator, bought a whole new one from skodaparts.com instead of messing around with a repair kit !

Knackered one off and new one on straight away simple.
