Felicia shocks (1997)

Help!!

The front shocks have rusted through [spring seat has dropped and rubbing on wheel] and they seem to be a total pig to change. Managed to get one of the clamp bolts out, but the otherside is having none of it. Tried plus gas, a large hammer, more plus gas and a blow torch, and yet it refuses to move!! Looks as if I might have to drill it out tomorrow!

Any ideas? Mr Haynes says "simply remove the clamp bolt and allow it to drop..."

lots of wd40 and a very large hammer if i'd had a pound for every front shock i've done on fav's/fel's i would have more money than bill gates and richard branson put together. btw 50% of the ones i do are seized but i talk to them nicely then they move

Rears also have a habbit of doing that aswell.

my front shock cup went on my whilst i was doing 70mph.i had no problem removing mine. just got the air gun on them to get them moving an then a large hammer.im changing the rears in about 2 weeks, just to be on the safe side.

"Paint" some diesel on the area that is stuck and leave it for a while, overnight if possible. It's the best stuff I've ever found for "unsticking" stuff :D

Got it out... after snapping off a colbot drill bit :-(

Been several long days of grief!! Just waiting for some shocks to come into the country. Apparently the last batch of 30 that came over (last week) were all faulty.....

Just have to hope it will pass the MoT now (which has now expired)
