I don't get what you mean by it can get to aggressive. Just lighten your right foot. One of the reasons ilike Revo is that the powers there if needed. Just adjust your driving style to suit.

  • Just to clarify the SPS box when turned to stock is not stock lol. It is a stock version on the revo map, like a detuned version of there map to make the car feel like it has the original power. If th

  • This is where APR come up trumps. You can switch to a 100% stock map via cruise control stalk so they can't detect it

I had the same issue with the Shark map. It came on very strong and very early, more so than REVO does tbh. Its the way the boost ramps in on the map. Shark came on very high boost very early as does REVO. Mine is more progressive now running an extra 50-60hp than it was before purely down to the way the throttle map and boost has been setup.

Im fortunate to have driven APR, Shark and Jabbasport remaps on my own car, as well as having driven REVO and APR on 3 other ibiza cupras. Id say i have a fair comparison of how they compare. REVO and shark were very urgent low down. I asked Jabba to be more progressive, and it made the same midrangewhcih they achieved with throttle mapping and a much more progressive and lower boost setup. APR seem to have improved on this further.

Theres no denying REVO and Sharkl are bloody quick. but the other guys make the same headline figures, but with different power deliveries. ETTO really.

Pittbull is right though. there is a large element of applying the loud pedal correctly involved. You will get used to the new power in time and it wont seem as eager.

I didn't enjoy the extra power at first as it just seemed to spin the wheels all the time even in 4th in the wet and not really be of any use. But within a week or so you'll learn the new power band and throttle requirements etc. Which will allow you to use the power and more importantly enjoy it.

What's your views re:warrenty pitbull?

Each to their own but I run mine with only bolt on parts such as intake, forge recirc kit and for a short time a tbe up to the 5k mark as if there will be problems they will generally appear before this stage so if there was a problem I could return to stock for warranty work. Then when I was 100% happy I had it mapped.

I also believe prevention is better than cure so instead of waiting for a cylinder to fail due to misfires and alike I change plugs, oil and oil filter every 5k some may see this as excessive but I'd rarther pay 200 a year for these bits than upwards of 4k for a rebuild.

One last part I would say is all the parts I've added IMO are better than the OEM so in effect I'm improving the engine.

Speaking with many tuners the standard map is also one of the weakest points of this car so even if I wasn't going to modify the car I would get a custom map to emulate stock power.

Emailed the tuner tonight, will see what they say. It seams strange, like bogging down when changing from 5th to 6th. I'll see if they. An come with me for a demo tomorrow and will update on the si****ion ;-)

This is now in the hands of revo, was advised to try putting to stock on Sps and taking It out where it doesn't go dumbed down for a few seconds when hitting 6th. Will update when I know :-)

Hi Mike,

PM sent.

You need to remember just how sensitive these engines are to heat. 1° increase in IAT's is one Bhp lost. So as sy said seeing increases of 30/40° is reducing the bhp back down to 180bhp due to heatsoak. Not many engines out there even big bhp twin Turbo engines are this sensitive to heat.

Absolutely agree. Sometimes mine feels 'stock' when the heat soak kicks in :wonder:

i might just give in and get an intercooler....the list now grows, intercooler, intake kit, exhaust..... the ol reliable pd130 was map and forget lol!

If its heat soak, why would that only occur when changing to 6th? Is it just unlucky I'm getting into 6th when it's always happening? Cause surely when getting on into 6th air should be colling the car as its moving quicker....Confused.com

you might want to wait out on the intercooler for the minute. I might have a good alternative option for you.......

on the 1/4 mile for instance you start off well, but by the end it starts to drop off, so that would be high 4th gear low 5th.

I agree its strange that you only getting it in 6th though!!

It is odd but if it was a flat spot on the map you'd get it at the same rpm in every gear. Another thing to remember is that 6th and 7th are seen as cruising gears which is why sport mode only goes upto 5 so unless your on the redline its not worth changing into 6th.

My 7speed DSG goes up to 6th in 'S',

my 6 speed DSG on my diesel goes up to 5th in 'S'.

Yours must be the only one as skoda themselves state it will only go to 5th in s as the top speed of 144mph can be attained in this gear. However I'm sure your car does 170 no probs which is why it needs 6th aswell

Pitbull I didn't know this, maybe it's pointless up shifting into 6th if straight line speed is what I was seeking (possibly jusy the feeling of 5th boost dropping off as 6th gear revs drop for cruise revs) I did think this as took it on its only real run out this week (last night) after warmed up took it down some nice straights, felt good in 5th pull all the way. After a few mins of quick but not thrashed acceleration (manual as sport holds revs far too long for my liking most the time) i did witness the hold back in 3-4th following a fast run then slowing down to turn around. Now I'm not going to chase this around and around the block mainly as the cars just convenient to have, it's only needed for out of work hours driving. I'm finding myself becoming somewhat obsessed with it all and really just need to settle down and leave it be. It's there, it's quick when required, with a few more mods will be a tastefully modified car (which is what I was after not a rocket ship)

P.s vrsy that's very good of you :-) look forward to seeing what you find.

I knew you would be scathing, and i never said it was right,

so i tried to get a picture there but couldnt. (on the runway)

No it doesnt do 170, but does change up at 125 and accelerating.

3 of the possible reason, 'Faulty', 'Early Press car or similar', or 'modded' to do that and get the most from the engine.

Maybe why the 'standing starts in 'S' are so poor with mine compared to my 'D' or in Manual '1' and leave it to go up its self,

to '6'.

Picture in 'S6' to follow once someone can press the camera.

D '7' @ steady 70, drops to 'S4' in mine,

& D '7' at 80 or 90 is also back to 'S 4'

I tired making some more observations, when I get the "feeling" the car has blown off. It does the BOV noise just before the feeling, must be that the revs arent built up enough, turbos pressure has blown and the feeling must be going from boosting its nuts off back to superchatger only as turbo re-spools. Just no need to enter 6th until revs are built up high enough to cross over without feeling a drop?

125 and going? I tell you I drive quick but not that quick! Lol

My PD130 (mark 1vRS) used to suffer from heat soak something chronic! Lol

Mike,

Exactly. The slippery slope of 'modding' does this to most :giggle:

I drove a standard Mk2 VRS after mine recently and it felt like it was dragging a ships anchor.

It's annoying me this, bloody well pulling great in fith up the bypass (not racing or trying to gun it) into 6th it goes, burrr power drops off!! Then starts picking up, you can feel it significantly! :-/
