  • Just to clarify the SPS box when turned to stock is not stock lol. It is a stock version on the revo map, like a detuned version of there map to make the car feel like it has the original power. If th

  • This is where APR come up trumps. You can switch to a 100% stock map via cruise control stalk so they can't detect it

  • You need to remember just how sensitive these engines are to heat. 1° increase in IAT's is one Bhp lost. So as sy said seeing increases of 30/40° is reducing the bhp back down to 180bhp due to heatso

S6 - agree, it will do it. OK, this in the Scirocco and it was at 130+mph on the Autobahn...it does hold 5th in S to well over 120mph. At those speeds with a wet road, I wasn't paying too much attention to which gear it was in all the time TBH. The 180PS lump does seem to have a higher rev limit that the 160 though?

Seems like it's well possible from this

and a few other videos on youtube.

You do however have to drive at more than 200 KM/H which is pretty stupid unless you're on the autobahn...

143 mph in a Fabia VRS ..... Scary

0-143 in 79 seconds.

Just thinking about recent F1 performance figures.

0-140 then back to zero in 9 seconds !!! How ?

an indicated 143 is probably more likely about 128mph. All speedos over read by approx 10% straight out of the factory.

I've tried my car with a VBox and my sat nav and its always around 10% out at all speeds.

Still with the damping on the vRS 128mph it'll still be hopping around the road.

You can always get accurate timing and speed checks done & then set the Maxidot 'winter tyre setup' to get the cars reading set correctly,

turns out as pretty accurately to the true speeds when checked or double checked.

My old vRS I saw 145 indicated which on satnav came out at 133. Never really pushed this one much to higher speeds only bothered about acceleration.

It's not like calibrating the speedo for winter tyres, all you can do with the winter tyre mode is limit the top speed as winter tyres tend not to have a high speed rating.

I am not suggesting using it to 'recalibrate the car',

just Calibrate your mind to what the car reads and what you are actually doing.

If you know it reads 73 & is actualy doing 69, then you know that for the future

(whats an inch between friends, the difference between Ooo & Ahhh, on tyres and speedo, maybe 1.5 % or 4% but enough sometimes to make a speedo more acurate than on the standard fitment tyres)

Using the Car adjustable settings like the Winter Tyre and the 'speed warning' when set on the car to get an idea how far it might or not be out & to shows the cars speed as set matches a 'Proper Calibrated speed check device'.

An easy one to use if you do not have timing equipment or speed guns is a roadside Speed showing Speed sign on a quiet night.

new 215/40/17 tyres are very very near to exact for true speed and speedo indicated and Audible Warning at legal speeds on my vRS.

(as Checked against Club event timing equipment on Sunday at higher speeds)

Anyway, cars in today for live readings that are being relayed back to revo HQ to find out what's actually happening. Will update hopefully tonight once I find out, then we know once and for all.

Ok so car came back as A ok, Revo cant find any issues here atall. Although the guy testing my car did say he felt what i mentioned but only when manual shifting to 6th from 5th as i did. Apart from that the cars fine its all working and cooling as it should. He explained this feeling to Revo and they seem to think that their release of the dsg map for this car will help, something to do with the map being fine in D and S as the car decides what gear its in but when you M change and make it go into 6th you will feel this lag like feeling as your back to supercharged drive in a cruise gear. So conclusion seams to be hang fire for DSG map to improve the drive on the mapped cars, or not to bother and just don't put it into 6th to early for seamless acceleration when booting it.

on another note they said that as they have been dealing with ITG for Keith Edwards Audi (made a few runs at awesome gti last weekend) and various other cars they should be able to get me a good price on a new intake :giggle:

Wilko, I'm no expert, but it sounds as if you're changing into 6th too early, hence coming off the power and dumping it into the lower revs. When were you changing up into 6th? Did you try hanging on to 5th for longer?

I'm thinking about a map for my 1.6 CR TDI at some point in its life (maybe after a year or so), so useful to read some of the issues, rather than just those posts that go on about added power and improved MPG!
