Should my new 'used' purchase have 'V8' sat nav

Featured Replies

Hi guys, i am now the proud owner of a 170 dsg elegance on an 11' plate. What a car! talk about effortless cruising.

I bought the car last week, loving every minute of it but i have noticed the sat nav is 'V7' and i understand a 'V8' is available. My question is, do you think i am justified in asking the dealer to supply v8 f.o.c? Should it have been installed, the car is just shy of one year old.

Kind regards, Neil.

Think it's like asking the dealer to fit new tyres and brake pads to a 2nd hand car... always worth a try, but doubt you'll get it!

Not sure if Skoda have v8 yet. I've had my car just a month and it has v7 maps and SUK customer service have just ignored me when I asked them if I have the latest.

I had mine new on the 17th April and it has V8 which incidently is over a year out of date.

V8 is the latest version used by VW/Seat/Skoda and the maps on new cars are now preloaded at the factory. You could try asking a dealer to update the maps, but the maps you have are usually the ones you end up with unless you pay to buy the upgrade DVD from the dealer.

Depending on your location in Dorset, I maybe able to help. PM Me.

It took me 15 months to get my sat nav to reflect the road network that was in existence on the day I got my car. I don't think it's too much for a manufacturer to guarantee the maps would be current at the day of purchase of a new car, even if it means updating the maps with a subsequent release from the sat nav map maker)

Does anyone have the part number /price for the upgrade from the dealer , my local one is pretty useless and my car is well overdue an upgrade

My dealer did the upgrade for me for around £37.50, using a master DVD, so that I dd not have to buy one myself.

What justification do you have for expecting that? If you bought a road atlas from a bookshop, would you expect to be able to take it back and exchange it later because it wasn't up to date on the date you bought it? How can Skoda be expected to guarantee that the mapping technology they buy in from their OE suppliers is up to date (therefore updated each day) at the time of order/purchase/delivery, and will not subsequently become out of date while the car is being built and shipped to the dealer, and ultimately sold to the customer?
