Skoda Fabia 2005 audio & parrot

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am trying to do 2 things to my skoda audio system, replace the factory 'symphony' radio with a pioneer system out my old banter-bus. I have had the radio out and noticed it did not have a metal DIN mount, not a problem, popped to my local spares warehouse and picked up a metal cage to put into the Fabia's slot :giggle: However, this did not fit, it was a little to large for the slot. tried another from the warehouse and this did not fit either. It is literally 2mm too large, is this a known annoyance in the 2005 fabia? Or am I more likely to be looking at a manufacturing error of these 2 cages.

On another note, I have bought a parrot recently and I wish to fit it when i get the new radio all sorted. Have had a quick play and I cannot get any power to the unit! :@ It is second hand, and had two of the wires spliced. One red and one orange, has anyone fitted a parrot before and got any advice, I have read about the need to change over live/ignition feeds but I cannot get any power into the unit whatsoever.

Would I be ok to 'piggyback' from the radio live (if so what color is it?) and if not, how easy is it to run a permanent/ignition live to behind the radio!

Thank You in advance.

Having just fitted a double din pioneer to my own car. The cage is a really really tight fit. I squashed mine a bit top and bottom to ease it in a little. But even then I came away with about15 cuts to my hands and I still struggled to push it in. But it will go eventually.

Parrot wise think they do splice into the radio wiring. In the pioneer wiring loom there should be extra space on the red and yellow leads for extra supplys. You will need to swop the red and yellow leads over anyway as there the wrong way round in the car wiring. So you'll need to put them red to yellow and yellow to red

Thank You! I will give this a go tomorrow! Does the radio still fit fine with the top and bottom squeezed in?

It will push Back when in and once you slot the unit in and click it in place should be fine. Just make sure you tuck the wires out on the way above and below as there ain't much room behind. Also you will need an inline aerial booster otherwise no radio reception
