Standard speakers with a 12" sub?

Featured Replies

Morning peeps,

After upgrading my HU to a nice alpine Ida-x305s and loving the results, time has passed and I am yet again after more bass.

I have an old 12" sub and amp laying about, which I am thinking of chucking in the fab.

But would this sound crap as the standard speakers may be drowned out, apart from high end notes?

If you’re running a sub then your door speakers only need to push out mid/high notes. Turn the bass down on your door speakers and let the sub produce the bass. Ideally I would upgrade the door speakers to get the most from your new HU.

Yeah, have been considering upgrading the fronts. But £350 for hertz components fitted isn't a bad price, but don't want to spend that much ATM tbh

Amp the speakers, they sound a huge amount better for it, you would be surprised how 'alright' they are lol
