No reverse and stiff box

Featured Replies

Hi guys I am having trouble with my octy it won't go in reverse and the whole box feels stiff but selects and drives fine in all forward gears sometimes when I think I have found reverse its first and moves forward can anyone help???

Cables might need adjusting, there's a 'how to' in the Haynes manual if you have one?

Bleed the clutch hydraulics?

As stated could be cables need adjusting.

Thanks guys I think I have found the problem the rubber bushes in the selectors are worn now this isn't a massive problem when cold but as the heat in the engine bay increces the softer they get and don't have enough strength to select reverse I have orderd some new ones but my mot is tomorrow so I am thinking of a way of overcoming (bodging) the old ones to get it through im thinking of removing the old pin through the center and sitting a square washer eather side of the bush housing then putting a bolt through and pressing the washers together to create a solid colection now I know I would have to take it easy on the gear changes and it's now a perminant fix but will it work?
