Hey all,

So this may be a bit cheeky but I'm chancing my arm.......as the people on here are just unreal helpful. 

I live in Ireland and want to buy a 2010 Skoda Octavia 1.8 tsi hatchback manual...........and believe it or not but there are currently none of these particular cars available in Ireland

So I have to make my way across the pond to buy one of these cars. As I have to do this, it's not really handy for me to go and simply view the car.........so here is my cheeky question : 

Is there anyone in the Cardiff area near white dove that could just go in and have a look at the car, start it, see if it sounds ok and just check the general condition of the car and check if genersl stuff is working  (ac, radio etc ) ? 

Maybe white dove is near you or on your way home from work and may be easy to get to etc

P.S.   I know from this forum that white dove does not have a great reputation but all I'm doing is buying the car and then they will never see me again so I don't need after service from them. I don't want this thread to turn in to a the pros and cons of white dove Cardiff

P.P.S.  I know there are other places in great Britian that sell these cars ( I did a national search ) but this particular car at white dove in Cardiff seems to be a good price.

I would help you but I'm afraid I vowed never to go near that place again.

I bought mine from them, and I would describe the experience as mediocre at best, had to nag them for centre caps which were promised and the spare was totally bald when I checked it later

My greenline is from there as is SWMBOs new Citigo. Nothing but praise from me, had very good experiences, both cars.

Not near enough to have a look though sorry mate.

its a 2010 skoda octavia 1.8 tsi manual hatchback for £8995

Reason im asking is cause there is

a 2009 going for £9995

a 2009 going for £9480

and they are the exact same spec as the one in Cardiff.

This 2010 is a year younger than these cars with less miles and yet going for less, which is why im wonering about the " too good to be true "

Mate, I know where the garage is, and I sometimes work in Cardiff. It does seem too good to be true, but could call in over lunch or on my way home for you if it helps. Problem is not in work till Wed, but the offers there if that any good to you and you want to make the arrangements for that day with the garage.

I've dealt with White Dove, and personally I wouldn't go near them with a bargepole.

However, I know the manager is now a guy who was from Sinclair Skoda in Swansea and he was decent (well my wife didn't think so, but I managed to order a new car with him so...)

If this is Andy Shortland from Sinclair Skoda in Swansea, I can highly recommend him. Bought my current vRS off him and he was excellent to deal with.

Yep, he's the guy.

The steering wheel spokes and drivers seat look too worn considering it's only done 21k.
