Fabia VRS rear spoiler paint failure

Featured Replies

It appears many people have experienced the same as I have with rear spoiler paint flaking off my Fabia VRS SE (07). Skoda didn't want to know as the paint warranty is only 3 years and the corrosion warranty only applies to bits that corrode (steel). How much should I be paying to be this resprayed? I've just been to a bodyshop who are drawing up a quote, but he said he may have to take off the spoiler, which may chip off the paint on other body panels....

Has anyone else had this done in the Windsor/Slough/Berkshire area? Can you recommend a decent bodyshop and reasonable price? I know the bodyshop I have taken it to will do a good job as they resprayed the front of the car a couple of months ago but was a non-fault insurance claim so don't know how much it cost and if they are good value.

Any help much appreciated!!

No more than about £100-120 I'd say.

May work out a bit cheaper if you get something else done at the same time

if it needs it?

My mate paid £80 a year ago

About £100 is in the right ball park for a decent job. I had my aerial groove smoothed over also on mine :)

Thanks guys. I was gonna set a limit of £150 so your responses have put my mind at rest.

Anyone know why this has happened on so many VRS Fabia? And all over the last 18 months (judging by other posts), no matter the age of the car, mine is one of the newest out there and its still happened!!

Its not just Fabia, Skoda its most VAG cars. My paint shop guy says its because they use wrong technique when painting plastics they paint them the same as metal whereas it should be prepped with adhesion promoter first then primer (plastic) then two / three colour coats and that should be left to completely dry and then clear coat

Good job I have had both bumpers replaced then, or they would be next.....

I havent heard of any bumpers doing tbf most likely because the spoiler gets most abuse with it getting direct sun light etc

Did mine myself a while back.Did a ok job, just masked around it using special masking tape that can go around curves.Just didn't like the idea of the bodyshop taking the spoiler off.I think someone on here got chipsaway out and thats all they done was mask it off...

My spoiler was removed for painting and the body shop said it was a joke how easy it was to remove.
