Proud of it?

Featured Replies

There seems to be an awful lot of de-badging/re badging. Some of the things on offer (vRS inserts ) look great.I just wonder though if people are underneath it all still embarrassed about the skoda connection?

There will be people who say " not at all" and be fibbing blatantly

I think it is a must have part of the car.It starts great conversations,it amazes people as to what they are seeing.A good looking car.So mine stay firmly and proudly put :D

Go on then, are you proud of your moniker or not?Are you trying to erase the cars identity and pass it off as something else other than what it is ;) ? An honest question, one word answer should be enough.

Proud  or embarrassed still :o

 & when people try it on because it is "only an SDI"

Proud.

Someone pinched my skoda badge off the back.

So i replaced it :D

Wouldn't say I'm proud of it - it's no Ferarri ;) - but I'm not ashamed of it. Who cares what other people think of it

Chris

being honest, i was never proud of my skoda badge, ive never been proud of my VW badge on my mk2 GTi or even proud of my new Audi badge.

i know what you are meaning but i buy every car because i like it and i rate the car. i have never and never will buy a car to impress anyone with its looks or badge.

even now i dont think of my car as an audi, i just rate it as a great car just like the others i have owned.

:)

I only wish mine said 'Skoda Diesel' instrad of vRS - it'd be even funnier!

Mine has had the vRS logo removed from the back as I kept having boy-racers trying it on. Front one is still there, Fabia logo is still there & Skoda one as well.

No doubt whatsoever there is still a badge image problem for some people. All I will say on that is that 1) they're missing something and 2) Tesco anyone?

Tesco used to be 'cheap rubbish where you wouldn't want to be seen' - now for most people this is no longer the case :D

I leave mine on but in all fairness all they ever see is the one at the back ;-)

Ive removed the FABIA letters from the back of mine purely cos i think its looks miles better and its easier to keep clean! My skoda badges are still intact

Ditto

Completly proud of my vRS.

Planned to test drive different cars, and was so impressed with the vRS, i went out and bought it straight away and would never consider removing the badges.

Proud, just going for the stealth option

I'm putting my badges back on..reminds me, need to sell my debadged front grill.

My wife's sister and her husband both have BMW's and will not have any other make. :thumbdwn: They are Both badge snobs. :thumbdwn: If you stuck a BMW badge on a Skoda they would most likley buy one. I'm proud to display my Skoda badge although I have removed the Vrs Logo on the boot to stop ar$ol's wanting a race....I think it works :)

I am proud of owning a Skoda. But I find it funny that people think they are doing me a favour by letting me know they are good cars now. I spoke to "the" man from Audi/VW driver on Saturday, and he asked me what car I drove.

"Skoda Fabia" I said.

"They are good cars now" he said

"I didn't ask" I said and with that he look puzzled, so I left - lol.

My local Skoda dealer is opposite the VW place...now she parked her polo in the Skoda dealers because they actually have customer parking (I was there too with a diag check). She asked if the VW parts man would mind going and looking at hers in the Skoda place, on the way over he's saying well we don't mind, it's just a different badge.

Now for me thats technically true in a way. However I think that it's also VERY wrong.

Technically a Audi is the same as a VW as is the same as a Seat or Skoda...what differs is the design and use of components (steel, alloy and plastic). The care and attention during manufacture and that trickles all the way to the sales and aftersales.

I believe that while it undoubtly has the componet share of the VAG group, it has a totally different build and outlook on life.

But while we are on it, least were in the same arm of VAG as Bently :D

I couldn't agree with this more. Better put than I could have written it!

I don't think anybody trully believes that the Octy is just a cheap A4. Comparable certainly, but build and design are worlds apart...

I don't think anybody trully believes that the Octy is just a cheap A4.

Thats because it isnt. Its actually a cheap A3 ;)

i took off all the badges except the skoda ones simply to stop little scrotes messin and to aid cleaning. also think it looks a lot cleaner and nicer

I've had so many 'why?' type looks when I say I've got a Skoda. Still, their loss, I'd definitely buy another one.

I parked next to an A4 the other day - to my surprise the wheelbase is identical. I thought the A4 was passat based but maybe not...?

4X4turbo badge replaced with a 1.4 16V badge to increase the feeling of shame of those left behind by a Skoda. :D

Skoda badge only removed for styling purposes, not out of embarrassment. :o

I still have mine on the front & steering wheel though. :)

I'm very proud of mine - and proud of myself that I found a great car at such a good price.

going on a few comments i got when i bought my audi, i think some people do asume the octy is a cheap A4.

nice car.. but i dont get it ? isnt fundamentally the same as the octy? so why change?

i loved my skoda and would buy another one anyday, bit the simple fact was i couldnt afford the top level octy with extras i wanted. the Audi was year ld and 14k miles on it, hence i went for the audi. but having owned them both people who think along the lines of the above quote make themselves sound stupid to be honest.

there are differences, fairly big differences on occasions hence the extra price. whoever is paying the money will decide if they deem the differences worth it. i for one havent bought a car for its badge and i honestly dont believe EVERYONE else who hasnt bought a skoda went for the badge, be it Ford, Audi, VW, BMW etc

im not a badge snob, i choose a car on its ability to suit my needs and wants :)

Kenny,

SWMBO's mum has an A4, very nice, 1.8t Quattro all the trimmings...no it's bloody nice and I'd buy it off her tomorrow.

At the right price ;)

Thats the key for me, I don't love my cars enough to pay a premium for them, there is no point me buying an audi when the Octy does everything functionally the same, if not better as it's lighter. I choose the technical package that works for me, always been a function over form man. Hell if the shell was cast iron I'd buy it asusming it was at the right price and had functional potential.

Nearly called Star about an S4 they have for sale (on behalf off); well ok I did call them...price was right, car is defo right...moral commitments prevent :(
