Beware the new car thief!

Featured Replies

Found this link on another forum. I presume it is for keyless ignitions but very worrying as the only response the car manufacturers seemed to put up was that they met the curent standards, which is nice to know when you get your car nicked!!

Nothing's safe these days, they make you sick thieving b*****ds.

I thought you needed a good key to add others?

Nope, just erase existing and reprogram new. At least VAG make it a little harder, but its still possible and we need a physical key unless you have KESSY. One reason why I dont like cars with keyless ignition, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

It can be done to VAG cars too

There is a device that will overide the immo and all you need to do is plug it in the OBD

as for the mechanical steering lock the thieves would require a full set of keys (from memory I think there are 28 variations)

Watching the video just made my blood boil and made me think how horrible it would be to wake up and see your pride and joy gone!!

F***ing thieving *******s!!!

It's sickening but that thread also mentions a blind spot of the alarm in the BMW 1M. Not good for someone like that. Police are even saying not to buy BMW. Bet insurance is silly money

Doesn't really surprise me, just a matter of time before everything like that gets defeated I guess.

Pretty bad news though :(

I suppose it was a plus point for the older Skoda models in that fewer people seemed inclined to want to pinch them! Progession has brought with it greater desirability and the urge to defeat the security in place.
