I'll find out what it's like locally, I've asked a few garages and they said that there is need for a cat on a diesel with the new rules or some *******s because it's a visual inspection :S

but if you read the new rules correctly it still says for petrol not diesel. To be fair every mot tester thinks different as the new rules that come in every so often are either explained different to each of them or just not correctly. My best friend and his dad are both mot testers in different places and they both have different views on different things, most things are obviously the same like the usual checks ie brakes, lights and rust but some of the new rules are just plain confusing haha

I'll have a read about it. I'm considering having the standard cat made quick release and then a Mufflerectomy.

Or I could go down the route of just a full de- cat Piper system without any silencers but then I'd have no option of putting the cat in quickly.

If and aftermarket de-cat is basically a normal down pipe but stainless and a de-cat then I'd rather just de-cat the standard one to save money :)

Does that make sense?

its pretty much the same with the flexi up the top but its a bigger bore pipe. some people i know chope the cat out and get a pipe welded inside and but it back on so when you look its seems to have a cat fitted and no need to swap back and for haha.

That makes sense, I might get a fake cat done or something then, I just don't want to chop up the standard cat internally unless it was a quick realease one which I could put back in :)

Would you say it's worth de-catting the standard down pipe then?

Thanks for the help!

i dont know to be honest, personally i would just buy the decat pipe but i cant see why it would work to do it on the cheap and your quick release idea seems pretty good but i think it wont be much cheaper than the after market decat pipes but would make it easier for when you want it back on i suppose.

I think I might just do that then, it can't be too bad.

Would a de-cat make the back of my car sooty?
