DSG repair.

Featured Replies

My Octy ll DSG box is fubarred. :@

Can anyone recommend a transmission specialist in Kent, who i can trust to do a good job and not fleece me?

I'm ex motor trade and know what garages are capable of, so very distrusting i'm afraid.

Cheers, Daz.

Whats gone wrong with it?

Sounds like a bag of bolts.

It has a history though. :'(

I needed to replace my taxi last year and couldn't get finance, so i bought a cat d repaired car with the cash i had saved.

It turned out the gearbox case got punctured in the crash and was welded up.

I changed the oil and what little came out was not the right stuff.

It has been fine for 20,000 miles till this week when it started making terrible noises.

It still shifts through the gears ok funnily enough.

The cam is also suspected to be knocking so as you can see, i,m in the pooh!

I have money saved for repairs but don't want to get tucked up.

I can use the car till 2018 for work so it should earn it's keep if repaired correctly.

Where abouts in Kent are you?

Herne Bay.

I too have a Skoda Octavia TDI with knackered DSG. This is a 2006 model, which has done little over 50,000 miles. I contacted a main dealer, but all they wanted to do was fit a new gearbox (£4,000+!). "It's over 5 years old sir, you have no claim under warranty". The problem seems to occur far more often than Skoda will admit. VAG are now giving a 10year or100,000 mile warranty on DSG gearboxes, is this to prevent bad publicity from angry customers?

£4K - are you/they serious?

What's wrong with yours?

I have an 06 DSG with 48K on and there's no issues with mine at all
