Bluetooth Fitting

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Firstly apologies for posting this topic, I'm probably duplicating a lot of questions that have already been answered somewhere on this website. I have recently come back into the Skoda fold after a brief and unsuccessful period with another manufacturer. My new vehicle is yet another Octavia VRS, this time an 09 Diesel Limited Edition.

I am interested in fitting Bluetooth to my existing Bolero unit using VW OEM kit and hoping it will also integrate with my Maxidot display. I have been trying to trawl through this forum to research various kits, cabling routes etc, can anybody provide a definitive guide for fitting of such a kit?

From what I have read it seems that this particular kit might be my best option.

http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730f-retrofit,id218.html

Reading the excellent historical posts on this forum, I understand that if I manage to purchase the correct kit and successfully complete the install, I will require some VAG-COM coding to enable full integration with the Maxidot display, this is the step that concerns me most! Can anybody recommend a specialist to do the re-coding in my local area as I can't imagine my local dealer understanding what would be required to complete the task?

I'm based on the Wirral and would happy to travel a reasonable distance to get the re-coding done.

Great to be back in a VRS and good to see this site is still going strong, great site!

Cheers

I have just helped a guy on here (styler) code BT to his LE with VCDS.

We have had a few issues which we are trying to get to the bottom of at the moment - namely the phone address book appears on the Bolero in gobbledy-****, but on the Maxidot fine! It may be an issue with having a newer BT module than the Bolero can handle.

The phone numbers on the Maxidot appear as 111-111-11111 as opposed to 11111-111111, but a minor annoyance.

I'm no expert on which modules connect with what other modules, but if you email Car Systems they will ensure you get the right module and cables (alternatively there is a seller on eBay in Ireland who seems pretty good, but I don't know which one - sorry).

With regard to the coding, you don't need to go to a dealer - look on here for your nearest Briskodian with VCDS (a sticky thread in the Diagnostics and VCDS forum) and ask them to help you out.

When Ben at Shark Performance fitted my oem bluetooth he placed the module behind the climate control control panel, nice and tidy and easy to locate

I have just installed bluetooth in my Limited Edition and as KB says the Bolero phonebook is corrupt. Also have empty squares on Maxidot instead of battery and media player icons. VCDS also shows an open-cicicuit fault. But it does work and I can use it via the Maxidot.

Got the 7P6/5K0 wiring loom/mic/underseat foam kit from CarSystems and was impressed with their quick delivery and support.

The bluetooth module is 5K0 035 730D from Ebay.

Been trying to figure out why Bolero phonebook is corrupt but no one has any ideas, including Shark Performance, so will be exchanging bluetooth for 7P6 035 730F next week and will see if any better.

If no different I suspect that it is the Bolero's fault and that a newer hardware version may be the answer(or a Columbus). The Bolero has HW:007 on the top sticker, software was upgraded to latest 054.

Thanks for all the replies, feel pretty confident about installing the kit having checked out the installation link above. The kit on carsystems.pl is appears to be a newer variant F type. In response to Styler67's post, is there anyone on here who has successfully installed either D or F variant and actually got the phonebook and all other functions working correctly without any corruption?

My phonebook and everything else works fine. I haven't tested the SMS function because my Android phone doesn't have RSAP.

My phonebook and everything else works fine.

Could you elaborate on your BT Module (HW & SW versions) as well as the Bolero versions (HW & SW) please.

If you have the same on both as styler67 has, then I must have overlooked something. If different, then he might have a combination that is incompatible and might be best avoided.

Thanks.

The BT kit is in my signature and I hope this helps:

Bolero is the same (but coding and model number are slightly different):

The BT module is different though and coding is also different:

Can anyone elaborate on the coding differences? - it might be that which is causing the problems we are encountering.

Or is it just down to the module being different?

I am afraid I have reached (and passed) the end of my knowledge on the subject. I did notice that your coding is shorter and wondered whether it might be something related to long coding but I don't know enough about it to help out.

Thanks for posting your scans - that has given me (and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than both of us put together) something to go on.

5K0 has 16 digits (bits?) while 5N0 has 24.

Wonder if this is to do with the extra features and functions the 5N0 has?

I'm just in the process of fitting a Bolero and I'm planning on doing Bluetooth from carsystems.pl next so this topic is timely.

Riggsy, you mention this kit: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730f-retrofit,id218.html

Can I ask why you chosse this over this kit (with A2DP streaming): http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-5k0035730e-retrofit,id311.html I realise one is mentioned under Skoda and the other under VW but upon emailing carsystems they suggested the latter.

The corrupt phonebook on the bolero is a bit of an issue. Does anyone have one of the above modules and a Bolero with the phonebook working correctly? I'm about to order the kit but it would be nice if someone else had pioneered it sucessfully first!

Also, in terms of the CAN Gateway (I have a 2006 vRS) is it best to go for the latest part possible? Can anyone recommend this part: http://www.carsystems.pl/can-gateway-7n0907530m-succesor-1k0907530ad,id286.html

Cheers

Changed 5K0 035 730D module for a 7P6 035 730F module and unfortunately still have corrupt Bolero phonebook and empty square icons in Maxidot. :wonder:

So I guess my problems are either a coding issue or an incompatability with my 'old' Bolero.

Sorry the new module didn't solve the problem. But I didn't think it would. The 5N0 ... D module seems to be the one that causes the least grief.

I still think there is something wrong with the coding though: something I've missed...

I'm awaiting a response from Ross Tech and, as soon as I have something concrete, I'll head up your way and have another crack at it.

I just checked email and there was a response waiting for me (very quick considering I only registered my cable on Friday and they don't work over the weekend).

Looks like it's a question of the BT being too new for the car...

If you'd go by the build date of the car and the officially available

units you'll notice that the module you're installing is a little new

for your chassis. Now mind you this shouldn't be an issue in most cases

but sometimes it causes incompatibilities like yours.

Something you can try is having your dealer update the Instrument

Cluster Software to SW Level 0112, see TPI 2021210 (Campaign 90E9) for

details. The SVM Code for the update should be 3012.

Now mind you this will very much not take care of the Bolero issues and

in the end I would assume the BT module is just not right for your car.

I am convinced based on your scan that the coding isn't your issue.

As far as I know, this Bolero has the latest software update available - the Maxidot obviously not.

So, can anything be done about the Bolero?

Styler67, do you have access to another (later) Bolero that you can try? It could be that HW 007 is incompatible and HW 009 is compatible. Typically I have HW 007!

Unfortunately I do not have access to another newer Bolero.

If I can find/borrow one then it is something I will try.

Car going in on Friday for Instrument Cluster software upgrade from version 0106 to 0112. Thanks for the info, KB.

So hopefully this will sort out the empty squares on Maxidot, you never know it might also sort the Bolero phonebook as well.

When we meet up to try some different coding you can try my Columbus if you want to!

Only takes a minute or two to pull it out.

I think mine is a 2010 LED version running 3xxx software. Should be as up to date as your BT module.

Sorry to jump on the post. I'm in the process of ordering a new VRS manual. As I can't spec bluetooth and sat nav is not cheap, I thought I'd go with fitting Bluetooth myself.

The car comes with the bolero and maxidot, would the above kit work with it? And would it be compatibile if I at a later date got a Columbus? I understand it would need coding after fitting, but would it need coding after fitting the Colombus?

In theory, yes.

But we are experiencing problems with it working fully.

Ross Tech seem to think that it is because the BT module is 'too new' for the Bolero / car somehow. Not sure how as the Bolero has the latest software on and the Maxidot is being updated soon (we will se if that makes any difference - but I suspect not).

If you are ordering a new (as in brand new) Octavia, then the kit in the first post should almost certainly work after suitable coding with VCDS or similar.

It should also be compatible with the Columbus (assuming you also get a fairly new one) and shouldn't need coding again when you swap from Bolero to Columbus (but don't quote me on that as I do not know anyone who has done this - but hopefully might find out next week as I might be trying my Columbus with styler67's car / BT).

I'll keep a eye on this topic then. It would be a brand new one.

Cheers

Well the dealers tried everything they know but the computer would not let them upgrade the Instrument Cluster from 0106 to 0112.

It seems the upgrade is not applicable for my dash.

So I still have empty squares on the Maxidot and corrupt phonebook on Bolero, the search continues for a fix.

  • 1 month later...

Hi,

I have a Yeti MY2011 with Bolero, and DO HAVE the possibility of streaming BT Audio = GREAT

however I cannot change track on the steering wheel, I know that the Skoda sound systems can do that as I test drove a Yeti MY2012.

does anybody know if this AVRCP ( Audio Video Remote ) or sometimes mistaken for A2DP http://www.mobilebur...n.jsp?term=A2DP

do I lack hardware or software to make the remote function ( change track) on the steering wheel.?

appreciate all feed-back and suggestions....THANKS

  • 1 year later...

I have a Yeti, built 1/12, with a Bolero.

The phone book downloaded with every contact corrupted by one digit!?!?

How can that happen?
