Will say a sad goodbye to my PD VRS which has been a great car

You'll miss it. I came from a stage 2+ Octy vRS TFSI and it is a MUCH better car in every sense. Many a time i have wandered why i even sold it, i think it was out of boredom. I normally buy and sell about every 12-18months.

That said, the Fabia is so much cheaper to run.

On trackdays in the Octavia i would average around 12-15mpg over the whole day including the drive there and back. In the Fabia I average 22mpg ish on the same events, so im getting an extra 90ish miles to a tank each time i go.

Then tyres, i used to pay £140-150 a corner for top end tyres on ther Octy, i know run semi slick tyres at only £115 a corner!! Octy 22 mpg around town, Fabia 32mpg, Octy 34mpg on the motorway, Fabia 48mpg etc etc

TBH, i think the main reason ive missed the octy is because it was pretty heavily modified and setup really well. So coming to a stock Fabia was a shock. Now mine is setup with full suspension and stage 3 it'll not only be better, it'll be alot faster as well.

I also pay less for a fully modified Fabia than i did for a stock Octavia!!

I still regularly look at the facelift TSIs though, but it would have to be a DSG. Such a great car.

Not interested in modifying the Fabia if you want a quick car its always better to buy one in the first place

I have an Evo for trackdays , the Fabia is a little sensible car for pootling around with

Fair one, thought about something like that but running costs are horrific for trackdays on them and scoobies. Plus even if i bought an EVO, id modify it. I cant stop myself lol.

tbh mine does very little mileage in a year. Prob less than 5k normally, so im having it as my track car/daily runner. Plus with all the mods getting fitted this month and 250hp/ton it'll be an absolute weapon. If I need a daily ill just buy a Mondeo diesel lol

As said though, still wish i had the octy. Probably one of my favourite cars ive ever had.

Octy vrs looks so much better, had a fabia vrs just couldn't get used to its looks my 12 sport don't look much different

For me (who has had a Fabia vRS and now has an Octavia vRS) I much prefer the Octavia, the Fabia feels raw and is amazing fun to drive and throw into corners etc, but the Octavia seems to me to be a sedate car which - when required can be a great drive. Overall the Octavia works for me and I would take that everytime over the Fabia I used to have.

well I;'ve driven both and prefere the fabia....

but it depends on your point of view... what you want...

I dont want a more mature bigger car ... I dont need the space...

I don't mind that the fabia isn't as well built ect ..

I just love to drive it like I stole, it ;)

standard the perfomance on paper is very similar... but in the octy it just feels flat until the revs rise, too sedate, not "alive" enough.. too much like mr. mondeo man... yes it does come alive when revved and pushed, but just seems a bit too "everyday"

I prefere the supercharger whine, the noise, the "rawness" of the fabia in comparison, the low ratio 7 - speed DSG with frantic get away, flipping the gears down into a corner, 'blipping'away up the revs....

I like the drive.

I have a Superb for when I want to be mature and waft about in comfort will all the toys :)

I have the Octy as my daily run and "Dads taxi"

I have the Evo for when I'm being very very naughty :)

Hope the fabia treats you well, iv done the opposite trade as my fabia vrs was absolutely terrible and totally unreliable so now have a octavia vrs tdi and its a much better car

^^^ agree the build quality and looks is far superior in the octy, also engine and gearbox will last a bit longer

Mmmm injectors, and loom , 3 dpf pressure sensors , new abs sensor , uneven tyre wear , flaky radio reception, dreadful starting and all the other issues i have to come like turbos , DMF, egr's , dpfs

Not sure i'll miss the Octavia that much , its not a patch on the Superb

I had the superbmk2 and yes even better than the octy, although I only had it for 12 months, the 1.9 tdi engine not big enough for it though, now I'm in the VW so all is fine

That's terrible I'm sure skoda has employed monkeys to put the fabia vrs together! That's awful but at least you've got that warm feeling inside, knowing yours ain't the only one !

My mums had hers a year and apart from a niggle with the central locking its been fine , so its not all of them

I do miss the otcavia vRS i had in many ways it's a better car but there is something about the fabia vRS that make you like it for me it's the 1.4 TSI & the 7 speed DSG

Oh i know and customer service was absolutley terrible from skoda uk an it has come to the octavia een the last skoda i own, i know of a few fabia and polo gti with new engines and other stuff god knows why it kept breaking maybe just a bad one.

just to be the "antibrakedown " guy...

33,000 miles, no oil usage... no engine/gearbox issues

only warrenty work, new track rod end (slight knock from suspension)

I'm happy.
