Featured Replies

Anyome know anything about these kits...?

Do they increase performance or just make a difference in sound?

Just a different sound really mate.

Hmm... I've left the car for ages, just using it as my everyday driver, wanted to start looking at doing a few more bits to it to be honest....

Matt, if you don't like the answer you receive, don't ask the question. Modding is all about individual preference, so if you really want a K&N filter, you go girlfriend!

So do it if it makes you feel better mate, but remember at the end of the day it's not going to have much of an impact on performance. I personally reckon a CAI and OEM panel filter will provide better sound and performance, it will still be negligible at best though, but at least your engine bay won't look like a chav's saxo...

Since when did i say i didnt like the answer... :wonder:

But thank you for your reply, what do you mean when you say CIA and OEM?

Just drill some holes in the bottom of the airbox = Free.

KnN are known for there bad filtration. (ever held one up to the light? or seen how dirty a throttle body gets with one?).

OEM is factry spec (as in, what Skoda would put in if they serviced it).

I'd do the OEM filter, of contact RyanP on the TDiClub forum, he has paper cone filters which are very good indeed.

HTH, Dave

i have a k&n and I cant fault it. and my boss has 2 in his focus RS and the same he can't fault them.

Fitted a k&n cone on mine (the correct one) and it made mine run poorly, sounded nice but ur better off gettin the pd160 pipe and a panel filter, jabbasport do a metal plate the shape of ur standard panel filter but with a boss on bottom for a cone filter

Hope this helps

Tom

For our cars (if standard) changing the air filter and exhaust doesn't do a lot for performance at all (it does with other cars, eg Subarus etc). The only difference is the noise it makes and they last much longer than OEM items. You may find that the better airflow may make the car a little less smoky,

If you change the filter then buy a remap, you may get more power than the standard remap as they may utilise this extra airflow.

Jabbas cone in a box thing! Would be nasty if one of them screws worked their way out
