Head Unit Problem - Help!

Featured Replies

Hey dudes! I've been driving around in my new vRS for the last few days and have just bought a new H.U. (Alpine CDA-9853R). Fitting it was no problem but I am having difficulty getting the damn thing to store my Radio stations and the BASE/TREBLE levels etc. I can change them ok, store them ok, but as soon as I remove the key from the ignition the unit seems to revert back to the initial settings! It doesn't look like a reset as features like facia colour, tilt and contrast are unaffected!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

p.s. loving the car, have done nearly 1000 miles in 5 days!

You are losing radio stations because the power adapter that you have used

or the connextions are wrong.

Skoda car audio looms are non-standard. If you get it wrong you'll blow your

replacement audio kit.

A complete audio adapter set can be obtained from www.nexxia.co.uk

I ordered a complete kit for approx

There are normally 2 +ve feeds to a head unit, one swiched with the ignition switch the other permanent. The permanent feed is used to retain memory settings/ displays when unit is switched off.

The feeds are probably reversed and the crossover is normally provided in the adapter lead. As previously posted VAG group connections are not quite standard.

I had a similar problem with my Pioneer HU. I swapped the red and yellow power cables on the floating socket on the HU.

Thanks for the replies. I swapped the Red and Yellow cables over and that has fixed the problem. Cheers
