Urban Discount!

Featured Replies

Link is for a Yeti 1.0 MPI S 3 door for £7630 ????

Found the urban in their demo range. It's diesel but as it's ex-demo, it may have some miles on it. Not a huge issue on a diesel though.

Try this link - various colours so doubt if they are all "demos" with mileage. The previous link is an error as no such model as a Yeti 1.0 MPSI, think they mean the new CityGo.

£1500 off list. Too late for me I am sorry to say.

Are people really paying list price for a new Skoda!?

I got a reasonable discount on a Yeti 1.2 DSG from my local dealer - although not as much as I might have got online.

The fact that Yetis are the only model to be excluded from the Skoda VAT free offer surely indicates that they don't need to offer large discounts to sell them. They are running businesses, not local charities. As another dealer (not the one I bought from) said to me "Why would we offer a discount?". Its not like there are new Yetis out there waiting for sale on the forecourts - they are as rare as hens teeth. People are prepared to wait for many months to take delivery. So yes - I am sure that there are people paying list price for a new Skoda Yeti (but not for other models - because every other model is VAT free). Had I been prepared to buy an Octavia (soon to be discontinued) or a Roomster (probably the Superb and Fabia too, although I didn't enquire) I could have got no VAT and an additional minimum £500 off from my local dealer (a 'discount' of over £3,000) - no problem.

For the Yeti it was considerably less generous, (but not non-existent) .

Good reply!

And to go further, at one stage fairly recently people were paying MORE than the retail price for ex-demos, low mileage second hand ones!

If one dealer doesn't want to discount / price match then there's another somewhere else that will

When i bought my Mk6 Golf there was a four - six month wait yet i still got the first dealer to match a internet quote with any haggling at all. They could have sold the build slot very easily to someone else i'm sure.

You can currently get 1700 - 2600 off a new Yeti, dependent upon spec (and thats only looking at one website)

Agreed, paying list price is crazy, paying over list price is insane.

I would have gone to my local dealer to buy my car if they had been willing to offer a discount but they refused to enter any serious conversation about it so I went elsewhere and will hopefully be picking up my Urban on monday. Today, I find they've got 4 diesel urbans for £17,500 which are described as used with less than 100 miles on them. Probably pre-reg but, if they'd had a petrol one, I'd probably have snapped it up if they'd offered it a few weeks ago.

It looks like there are some modest discounts out there.

Fine, but if people want the car quickly and aren't willing to wait up to 8 months, then market forces will take over. Result Yeti's with very low mileage were selling for more than retail, and dealers can sell more Yeti's than they can get hold of without offering a discount.

So don't be so disparaging about people without thinking about the details.

It could even make sense for somebody to pay more and not have to wait, I ended up having to buy another car whilst my Yeti was being built.

Sell current car now as an example and get say £5000 for it. Sell it in 6+ months with more miles, possibly some repair bills, and say get £4000 for it.

Might be worth paying over rrp if there is something around that you are happy with.

I can see why for some people it makes sense.

I have thought about the details, there is no reason to pay more than list price for a Skoda.

If a dealer won't negotiate walk away and find one that will.

I give up!!

I give up!!

+1

You will have noted he is at least true to his principles-he hasn't got a Yeti :hi:

With comments like this it shouldn't come as a suprise that the Yeti forum is increasingly seen by others as 'one to avoid'.

And, y'know, we kinda like it like that - for all the vRS-type-lowered-suspension-and-every-other-"enhancement" types, the Yeti and its drivers are largely satisfied with it as it is, and on this forum we enjoy a gentle discussion accordingly.

You stick to your stuff and we'll stick to ours and that way there's no upset whatsoever.

So go away and stay away, yeah?

Er no.

The forum is open to all to input, and in many cases the introvert nature of some alienate themselves from the 'Briskoda community'. In many cases 'sticking with your own' will hinder experience and advice from others who have the same engine, parts etc as you underneath and probably had the exact same issues as you. Do you really want to push these people away?

Trouble makers just posting to wind others up we will deal with, but just because someone doesnt drive a Yeti doesnt mean they can be run from the forums when only offering advice or a viewpoint. They are perfectly entitle to do so, just as you are in any other forum outside the Yeti ones.

Everyone is welcome in every forum. It has always been this way, and will continue to be this way. That's what makes this site what it is, and has done for the last 10 years. All we ask is that a few simple rules and guidelines are observed, and people are courteous to each other no matter what they drive or their background.

I'm sure Colin will confirm this upon his return, but we dont segregate here, and if this upsets you then sorry. This isnt about to change - if anything we'll be looking at ways to get everyone to integrate across models MORE.

If you have any valid suggestions or comments, as always feel free to email Colin & the admin team via the webmaster@ address.
