Fabia II Centre Console removal

Featured Replies

Can anyone help with tips/info for removal of a Fabia II Centre Console,

particularly gear change lever and the wiring connectors under the console as you can't see them to disconnect.

The car is a 1.2 - 60bhp and I want to fit a OEM heated seat switch.

Thanks

Stan

...hope someone knows as i am also intrested

Would be easy with a Haynes manual, wouldn't it? Wonder why they haven't produced one even though this model is 5 years old, now? Maybe Skodas are TOO reliable.

Surely lots of Fabia1 manual would be the same, shouldn't cost them much to do Fabia2.

I use my son's Fabia 1 manual for the mechanical bits - it's fine.

You need to remove the screws which are under the rubber 'bottoms' in the drinks holder and squarish recess at the front and back of the centre console respectively. The squarish recess is where the centre armrest would fit. Then pull the sides of the console out towards the front (they are held on with velcro which you can't see). To remove the gear lever, feel (through the gaiter) for a big plastic nut at the bottom of the gear knob itself and turn it clockwise. This will release the knob from the metal gear stick. Then lever up the round circular trim at the bottom of the gear lever. The gear knob and gaiter should then simply lift off.

Remove the handbrake cover by finding the release clip which is right at the bottom of the handbrake shaft (underneath it). Put a small screwdriver in the slot and pull the clip forward whilst pulling the handbrake cover towards the windscreen.

Be careful as you can easily break the plastic parts.

You can then access the connections to the switches in the console. These are underneath and are removed by pushing in the tabs you will feel on them. Good luck.

If you get to here

You've gone too far.....

Remove first screws number 2s (they are under rubber mats, no 3 and 11)

Number 1 is just velcro ;)
