Is this normal (central locking issue)

Featured Replies

On my vRS, when I shut the passengers door (when the keys are not in the ignition) it totally locks the central locking.

I have already locked the keys in twice, by leaving the keys on the seat and shutting the passengers door. Luckily I have had the spare to open it, but surely this cant be right?

Is it somthing I can fix with vag com?

mine is the same, i didnt have my spare but luckily i left the sunroof open. Mine is on drivers door though. Someone suggested to me that the wire could be loose in the connector block thats between the door and car (door hinge area) If i wiggle that big rubber tubing my doors lock and unlock so sounds about right. Just need to get her to an auto spark, or strip it myself and have a look,

So I take it its not normal then.

Did seem a bit daft.

So as soon as you shut the door it locks?

Definitely not normal.

Have you scanned with vag com for any fault codes?

The diagnostics has an impressive ability to notice wiring faults. However, if it sees this as normal operation, as if the lock were being locked, it won't flag it up as a fault. I'd pull the rubber bellows off and look for chaffed wires etc.

Yes its locking the entire car as soon as the passanger door is shut.

It was just scanned with vag com before the remap (that is still in progress but thats another story) but there were no fault codes.

Will check for chaffing wire when I get the car back.

Got the car back now and sure enough, when I wiggled the rubber gaitor in the door hinge, it locked and unlocked randomly.

I think i've sorted it though, it looks like it was a loose connector block under the gaitor as since I have taken the connectors out and put them back in tightly, the issue has gone away (for good hopefully!).
